Role Overview

The Senior Business Analyst, Underwriting Solutions leads business analysis efforts to support the design, delivery, and optimization of underwriting technology solutions across multiple lines of business. Acting as a key bridge between business and technology, this role partners with underwriting, product, and delivery teams to elicit, analyze, and translate requirements into scalable system solutions, while supporting end-to-end delivery including design, development, testing, and production support. The role also drives process improvements, ensures high-quality and traceable deliverables, and leverages modern tools, including AI solutions such as Microsoft Copilot, to accelerate requirement development and enhance delivery efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently elicit, challenge, and document scope, processes, and requirements while bringing change sponsors and stakeholders along the change journey.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables, including user stories and functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Lead requirements gathering for insurance-related projects, such as policy, claims, billing, and underwriting.
  • Analyze current insurance business processes, identify inefficiencies, and suggest improvements to optimize workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product managers, underwriters, and technical teams, to clarify objectives and define solutions.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure solutions align with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to validate test cases and lead and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Ensure traceability of requirements and user stories throughout the entire change lifecycle.
  • Apply business analysis best practices and provide insights that challenge the business to adopt the right solutions.
  • Build relationships and trust with senior stakeholders, understanding their goals and desired outcomes.
  • Implement continuous improvements to evolve how we approach Business Analysis and Design.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot to streamline and enhance the requirements lifecycle, including drafting documentation, summarizing stakeholder inputs, performing impact analysis, and ensuring high-quality, consistent BA deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, or a related field; insurance certifications or designations (e.g., CPCU, AINS) are a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience operating as a Business Analyst, with experience in the insurance industry (commercial specialty lines preferred).
  • Knowledge of insurance principles, including policy lifecycle, claims processing, billing, and underwriting.
  • Proven ability to elicit requirements and deliver high-quality business analysis deliverables.
  • Familiarity with insurance software solutions, with Duck Creek preferred.
  • Strong facilitation skills for reaching consensus on scope, design, and implementation decisions.
  • Knowledge of Jira and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with business analysis tools, techniques, and methodologies in various delivery frameworks, including Agile.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex insurance concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence scope and design, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Passion for driving change and delivering value.

**This is not a fully remote position. Applicants must sit in our Morristown, NJ office on our hybrid work schedule.**

Salary range specific to for this role : $104,000-$135,000 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, and qualifications.  In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
