About Traversa

Traversa Solutions is a network professional services firm based in Richardson, TX. We design, implement and support enterprise LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN and network security for value-added resellers, manufacturers and their end customers. Our engineers work across HPE Aruba Networking, Juniper, Fortinet, Cisco and Arista platforms, for customers in higher education, K-12, energy, industrial/OT and mid-market enterprise.

About the Role

The Network Engineer implements customer networks to an approved design: staging, configuration, cutover, testing and handoff. You will work on several projects at once, on site and remotely, alongside senior engineers and project managers, and you will be the engineer the customer sees during the build. This role suits someone with at least three years of hands-on enterprise networking who wants broad multi-vendor exposure and a path to senior design work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stage, configure and deploy switching, wireless and SD-WAN equipment to an approved design across HPE Aruba Networking (AOS-CX, Aruba Central), Juniper/Mist, Cisco, Arista and Fortinet platforms
  • Take part in customer requirements and design sessions, and contribute to low-level design: IP addressing and VLAN plans, configuration templates, cutover and rollback plans
  • Execute cutovers and migrations, including after-hours maintenance windows
  • Perform Layer 2 and Layer 3 testing and validation, and record results against the project acceptance criteria
  • Troubleshoot routing, switching and wireless issues during deployment and through post-cutover support
  • Produce as-built documentation, configuration backups and customer handoff material
  • Communicate clearly with customer and partner technical teams, and escalate schedule or technical risk to the project lead early
  • Maintain customer documentation in SharePoint and record time and project notes in Odoo daily
  • Learn new platforms quickly and keep certifications current

Required Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of enterprise network engineering with a value-added reseller, systems integrator or managed services provider, consulting directly with customers: requirements gathering, design and implementation
  • Active Cisco CCNA certification
  • Working knowledge of VLANs, STP, link aggregation, OSPF, BGP fundamentals, DHCP, DNS and enterprise wireless
  • Experience configuring switches and wireless from at least two of the vendors listed above
  • Clear written and verbal communication with customers and internal teams
  • Able to travel 20 to 30 percent, including overnight travel
  • Authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP Enterprise, a professional-level HPE Aruba Networking or Juniper certification, or Fortinet NSE 4
  • SD-WAN deployment experience (HPE Aruba EdgeConnect, Fortinet, Cisco or Meraki)
  • Firewall configuration experience
  • Python or Ansible for configuration and validation tasks
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
