This Financial Data Management Business Systems Analyst role is key to continued growth and success of Optum Finance organization through project system migrations and efficiency generating processes within the Financial Data Management team. Positions in this function create and deliver high quality system solutions for our applications, products and services across all technology functions. They consult with users and technology specialists to define business processes and the information systems for supporting those processes. Individuals in these roles may perform analysis and serve as business liaisons to understand and refine business requirements. They provide technical support in developing systems that are cost effective and meet users’ requirements. This function works to create systems that work together in a cohesive manner, enforcing standards and methods consistently across the enterprise. Roles may support both current system improvements and maintenance along with new system development.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Confident in analyzing and understanding Excel workbooks with financial data
- Construct queries with the use of filtering, cross db joins, for the purposes of targeted research and system support
- Communicate barriers/issues with current processes or approaches based on personal understanding and interaction with other teams
- Suggest changes to senior management using analytics to support your recommendations based on real world processes
- Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
- Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
- Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Improve systems by studying current practices, designing modifications in SQL/SSIS/Databricks/Python
- Backfill for existing projects/software workflows as needed
- Stored Procedure analysis and development

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of finance, accounting, computer science or data analytics
- Experience with financial systems infrastructure, system implementation and on-going support
- Intermediate proficiency in SQL
- Proven ability to solve complex issues involving overlapping mathematical and business criteria independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Health care experience
- Experience with Databricks/Python/SSIS
- Experience with Visio/JDraw
- Experience in taking ownership or leading on assigned tasks
- Proven communication skills targeting the present audience as well as generalized messaging via documents and written statements
- Proven ability to effectively manage and deliver to stated timelines in an environment of competing priorities
- Demonstrated systematic and logical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to support products in the Pacific Timezone

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
