Job Title: Sales Business Analyst

Position Summary

The Sales Business Analyst is responsible for delivering analytical support and actionable insights that drive commercial decision-making across sales, pricing, trade investments, and promotional activities. This role serves as a key business partner to Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams, ensuring pricing strategies, customer investments, and promotional programs generate profitable growth and maximize return on investment.

The successful candidate combines strong analytical skills with commercial acumen to evaluate pricing performance; trade spend effectiveness and customer profitability. The role plays a critical part in supporting strategic planning and business performance management.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing Management

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze customer and product pricing models.
  • Monitor pricing compliance and identify opportunities to improve margins and profitability.
  • Evaluate pricing changes and provide recommendations based on customer, channel, and product performance.
  • Support annual pricing reviews and customer-specific pricing negotiations.
  • Analyze price elasticity, margin impacts, and competitive pricing trends.

Trade Spend Management

  • Manage trade spend tracking and reporting across key customers and channels.
  • Monitor customer investments, deductions, rebates, and promotional funding.
  • Ensure trade spending aligns with company objectives and budget expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve trade investment efficiency and ROI.
  • Partner with Finance to validate accruals, claims, and trade spending forecasts.

Promotional Planning & Effectiveness

  • Analyze promotional performance to measure volume lift, profitability, and ROI
  • Develop post-promotion evaluations and recommendations for future activities.
  • Support annual promotional planning and forecasting processes.
  • Track and report promotional spending by customer, category, and channel.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize promotional investments and customer programs.

Commercial Analytics & Business Insights

  • Deliver regular reporting and dashboards related to sales performance, profitability, pricing, and trade spending.
  • Conduct customer, product, channel, and market analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Develop insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
  • Analyze sales trends, market performance, and customer behavior to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support annual business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and scenario modeling for commercial initiatives.

Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Support sales forecasting and demand planning activities.
  • Track performance against sales targets, budgets, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop KPIs and scorecards to measure commercial performance.
  • Monitor customer profitability and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the sales pipeline and recommend workflow or CRM improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to align commercial strategies, evaluate promotional ROI and support contract or pricing negotiations.
  • Assist in developing business cases for new products, pricing initiatives, and commercial investments.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making throughout the sales organization.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Marketing, or a related quantative discipline.
  • MBA or advanced analytical certification are considered an asset.

Experience

  • 3-7 years of experience in Sales Analytics, Business Analysis, Revenue Management, Trade Spend Management, Finance, or Commercial Planning.
  • Experience within Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Food & Beverage, Retail, Manufacturing, or Distribution environments preferred.
  • Experience working with pricing strategies, customer profitability analysis, and promotional effectiveness programs.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, macros, Power Query, data modeling).
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or MS Dynamics 365.
  • Experience with trade management and forecasting systems is an asset.
  • Strong data visualization and reporting capabilities.

Salary range: $71,000 - $89,000
