Role Summary

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a full-stack team building the region's leading property marketplace. Your team will own high-traffic, consumer-facing products, from the Next.js web experience to the TypeScript and Go services behind it, where latency, reliability and cost efficiency directly shape the experience of millions of buyers, renters and agents. You'll be accountable for the team's people, delivery and technical health. You'll also stay close enough to the code to make sound technical calls and to influence architecture beyond your team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own delivery: turn product strategy into a realistic plan, sequence work to ship value early and often, manage scope and risk, and keep stakeholders informed
  • Shape the roadmap with product managers and designers, bringing engineering's view on feasibility, cost and opportunity
  • Set and uphold technical direction across the stack with your senior engineers. That covers service design and API boundaries, frontend architecture and web performance, code and design review standards, and the evolution of existing Go services alongside new TypeScript development
  • Drive operational excellence: monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident response, SLOs, and continuous improvement of reliability, performance and cost
  • Build a data-informed team culture that uses production metrics, experiments and user behaviour to decide what to build next and to judge what has shipped Work across engineering teams, including mobile, platform and data, to resolve dependencies and contribute to engineering-wide standards and best practices
  • Stay hands-on where it gives the most leverage (design reviews, code reviews, prototypes, unblocking critical work) without becoming the team's bottleneck
  • Lead, coach and grow a team of full-stack engineers through regular 1:1s, clear expectations, candid feedback, performance reviews and career development
  • Own hiring for the team, from defining roles to running interview loops and closing candidates, with a high and consistent bar

Desired Experience

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience across frontend and backend, with significant time on high-traffic, consumer-facing systems
  • 2+ years leading engineering teams as an engineering manager or team lead, including direct people management (1:1s, performance, career growth) and hiring A solid hands-on background in TypeScript (Node.js) and React/Next.js, strong enough to guide architecture and hold a high bar in code and design reviews.
  • Familiarity with Go is a plus Experience with microservice architectures: API design (REST/gRPC), service boundaries and inter-service communication patterns
  • Experience with AWS and containerised deployments, and with data stores and search (MySQL/PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Redis)
  • A track record of delivering complex products predictably in ambiguous environments, with a pragmatic approach to planning, estimation and risk
  • Strong grounding in observability and reliability: SLOs, incident management, post-mortems and reliability improvement
  • Excellent communication with engineers, non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership

Nice to have

  • Experience leading teams that integrate AI/LLM-backed features into production, including managing the latency, quality and cost of model calls
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, edge computing (Lambda@Edge, CDN-level logic) or multi-region systems
  • Experience with SEO-critical web applications, internationalisation and right-to-left (Arabic) layouts
  • Experience in marketplace, classifieds, or other two-sided platform products Experience building a team from scratch or scaling one through rapid growth

How You Lead

  • You build ownership: engineers on your team understand the why, own outcomes beyond their tickets and follow through
  • You give clear, candid feedback, invest in people's growth, and address performance issues early and fairly
  • You make decisions with data and explain trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • You protect the quality bar in code review, design review and production, while keeping the team shipping
  • You're pragmatic: you know when to invest in scale and when to ship the simple thing, and you can quantify the cost of both
