We are seeking a proactive Construction Project Manager to join a California-based construction company managing multiple active projects.
In this role, you will coordinate day-to-day project needs, from reviewing construction plans and organizing subcontractors to ordering materials and scheduling deliveries. Working closely with the on-site supervisor, you will ensure that the people, materials, and documentation needed for each stage of construction are in place.
This opportunity is ideal for an architect or engineer with practical construction management experience who can take ownership of assigned work, anticipate issues, and follow through independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction plans to understand project scope, specifications, and material requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, communicate work requirements, and follow up on schedules and outstanding tasks.
- Ensure subcontractor contracts are signed and required paperwork is completed and organized.
- Identify and order the correct materials from suppliers based on project plans and requirements.
- Coordinate deliveries to ensure materials arrive when needed.
- Align subcontractor schedules and material availability with construction progress.
- Maintain regular communication with the on-site supervisor to address project needs and resolve coordination issues.
- Track outstanding items, identify potential delays, and proactively follow up to keep work moving.
- Use CAD and online supplier platforms to support project coordination and purchasing.
- Background in architecture, structural engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Architects are especially encouraged to apply.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in construction project management or coordination.
- Strong ability to read and understand architectural and engineering construction plans.
- Practical experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and construction activities.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD.
- Strong spoken and written English, including confidence communicating directly with subcontractors and suppliers by phone.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and execute assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
- Availability for a full-time remote role with working hours aligned with the California team.
