Strategic Solutions Engineer, Strategic Technical Sales Specialist (m/w/d)
EMEA, based in Germany
Jeppesen ForeFlight is looking for a Strategic Solutions Engineer to own our most complex, highest-value customer engagements across EMEA. This role is based in Germany and is a senior technical sales position for someone who can lead multi-stakeholder campaigns, mentor other engineers, and serve as a recognized authority on flight planning solutions in the aviation technology industry.
About the Role
This role is part of the broader Solutions Engineering (SE) team in EMEA. You'll work in close partnership with other SEs, SE Architects, Account Executives, and product leaders both regionally and globally.
As a Strategic Solutions Engineer, you'll own account and partner responsibilities for assigned accounts across EMEA, covering the full in-market portfolio for all go-to-market activities. You'll be the senior technical resource on the highest-complexity opportunities across the region, providing architectural and consultative support to other Solutions Engineers, and helping shape account strategy alongside Account Executives and SE Architects.
You'll also help build the next generation of senior SEs, sharing your product and industry knowledge through mentorship, structured training, and internal guidance, while representing Jeppesen ForeFlight externally at industry conferences, panels, and forums.
What You'll Do
- Own SE account and partner responsibilities for assigned accounts across EMEA, coordinating specialist support as needed while retaining overall account ownership.
- Engage on the highest-complexity opportunities across EMEA, regardless of territory boundaries.
- Provide architectural and consultative support to SE teams as a senior resource on critical accounts and complex engagements.
- Partner with other SEs, SE Architects, Account Executives, and product leaders across the region and globally to shape account strategy and drive deals forward.
- Transfer industry, technical, and product knowledge across vertical markets within EMEA; cross-vertical fluency is central to this role.
- Design and lead structured knowledge transfer activities to build SE capability across the team.
- Identify patterns across customer engagements and translate them into reusable guidance for the broader SE team.
- Build strong working relationships across Sales, Customer Success, Onboarding, and Product teams.
- Mentor and develop mid-level and junior Solutions Engineers within EMEA.
- Publish internal guidance and reference materials used across the team.
- Contribute product requirements and field observations to internal teams as the voice of the customer.
- Participate as a senior resource on rapid-response deal teams for high-priority opportunities.
- Represent Jeppesen ForeFlight at industry conferences, panels, and forums, contributing to the broader conversation shaping aviation technology.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Science, or a related field (a Master's degree or MBA is a plus, but not required).
- 10+ years of related experience, including extensive experience with Jeppesen ForeFlight or a comparable flight planning solution.
- A track record of success in complex, multi-stakeholder engagements across a geographic region.
- Strong Solutions Engineering experience, including a proven ability to work within a customer-facing team to drive the technical sales portion of a sales campaign.
- Deep subject matter expertise in FDPro and competitive flight planning solutions.
- Deep expertise across multiple product groups within your primary vertical, with strong cross-vertical product knowledge.
- Thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape across product lines, along with a working understanding of competitive positioning in adjacent verticals.
- A strong grasp of industry technologies, trends, and the forces shaping the aviation technology market.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- The ability to lead a team through complex technical and selling situations, and to influence without direct management authority.
- Experience leading and supporting remote team members across time zones and cultures, given the scope of the EMEA region.
- Willingness to travel across EMEA as needed to support key accounts and engagements.
- Recognition as an authority in the aviation or technology space, such as conference speaking, published work, or similar external recognition, is typical at this level.
- Comfort defining and sharing best practices for AI-assisted work, including reusable tools and workflows for your team.
- Holding or pursuing an aviation credential, such as a Pilot certificate, CFI, or FAA Dispatcher certificate, is viewed favorably. We encourage all team members to connect with aviation in whatever form suits them.
