Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ASIC Technical Project Manager (m/f/d) to lead the development of automotive-grade integrated circuits (ICs). This role is critical in managing cross-functional R&D teams to deliver high-quality ASICs that meet stringent automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100.

In addition to project leadership, the role includes a responsibility for shaping and improving the ASIC development process, ensuring alignment with internal methodologies (PLC/MLC) and continuous enhancement of development efficiency and quality. The ASIC Technical Project Manager (m/f/d) will oversee planning, execution and delivery of IC development projects, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Managing an IC R&D project team to define, plan, realize and deliver agreed work products in accordance with automotive quality and safety standards
  • Leading cross-functional teams including requirements engineering, architecture, design, verification, IP integration and tool support
  • Convening and moderating regular and milestone-based R&D project meetings

Planning & Execution

  • Developing detailed R&D project plans and providing inputs to the overall program management
  • Managing implementation of project plan contents, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution
  • Providing budget requirements including effort estimation, tools, licenses and hardware
  • Issuing work orders to specialist departments and ensuring alignment with project goals

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Reporting development progress and status of the ASIC project to the Program Manager
  • Monitoring and controlling all R&D project processes, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget and automotive compliance
  • Providing project team members with necessary plans, updates and technical documentation
  • Applying quality assurance practices including lessons-learned, peer reviews and risk assessments

Change & Risk Management

  • Applying configuration and change management processes rigorously
  • Participating in Change Control Board (CCB) meetings and managing R&D-related changes according to defined processes
  • Supporting component cost estimation and strategic decision-making
  • Ensuring project objectives are met in terms of budget, schedule and technical/quality targets

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Supporting definition, maintenance and continuous improvement of the ASIC Development Process (e.g. COT / Turn-Key flows)
  • Ensuring alignment of project execution with defined process phases, milestones and maturity levels (PLC/MLC)
  • Supporting standardization of work products, templates and review criteria across projects
  • Contributing to milestone review definitions and ensuring compliance with process requirements
  • Driving lessons learned and feedback into process improvements
  • Supporting process compliance with automotive standards such as ISO 26262

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics or comparable qualifiaction
  • Long-term experience in ASIC/IC development and technical project management, preferably in the automotive domain
  • Experience with functional safety and FTA, FMEA, FMEDA processes
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with process modelling tools (e.g., ARMS Stages, Confluence)
  • Strong background in IC design methodology, analog circuit design and EDA tools
  • Deep expertise in CMOS (analog, digital, RF) and BCD technologies
  • Proven track record in automotive product development and IC design
  • Strong understanding of automotive IC development lifecycle, including ISO 26262 and PPAP
  • Familiarity with automotive-grade reliability and qualification standards (e.g., AEC-Q100)
  • Knowledge of automotive mission profiles and environmental stress testing
  • Business fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage distributed teams across global locations
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus
