Role Overview

Our client is supporting the development of advanced AI systems by incorporating high-quality software engineering expertise into training and evaluation workflows.

We are looking for experienced Java backend engineers with strong hands-on expertise in Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and scalable backend architecture. The role involves building and reviewing production-grade backend systems, improving reliability and performance, and contributing technically rigorous software outputs that help train next-generation AI systems. No prior AI experience is required.

CONTRACT: Contractor assignment

COMMITMENT: Full-time

LOCATIONS: Remote

NOTES: Compensation ranges from $60–$110 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java backend systems.
  • Build production-grade services using Spring Boot.
  • Architect and implement robust microservices for complex application requirements.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend integrations.
  • Review technical specifications and translate them into reliable implementations.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend services for performance and stability.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide technically grounded feedback.
  • Improve backend reliability, security, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Document technical decisions, architecture, and implementation details clearly.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering teams on complex backend development tasks.
  • Strong professional experience with Java backend development.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and design principles.
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs.
  • Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient production code.
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture, data structures, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing backend applications.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
