We are seeking a talented individual to join our DBA team at Marsh & McLennan Asia Business Services (MMABS). This role will be based in our Pavilion Damansara Corporate Towers, Kuala Lumpur office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working 3 days in office.
Senior Database Administrator
An excellent opportunity for a Database Administrator, looking for a long-term opportunity, growth and flexible work environment within the Database Services team. In this capacity, the responsibilities will include creating, supporting and maintaining PostgreSQL and other databases managed by the Database Services team
We will count on you to:
- Build/Configure PostgreSQL database cluster and replication
- Fine-tune configurations PostgreSQL and servers for performance improvement.
- Install PostGIS/ pgAudit and other required extension
- Responsible for the monitoring and uptime of all production databases.
- Estimate database capacities; develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage.
- Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any need downtime.
- Responsible for regular backups and recovery of databases.
- Responsible for regular maintenance on databases (e.g., Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving).
- Design and implement DR plans & HA solutions and recommendations.
- Work closely with the application team to understand what changes are coming in a build/patch/hotfix, do an impact analysis, fine-tune the queries if any.
What you need to have:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 2 to 5 years’ support and/or project experience in a Database Administrator role
- Good DBA Experience in any DBA technologies but should have min 1.5 to 2 years of experience in PostgreSQL.
- Good knowledge in Docker, Replication, Sharding, Ops Manager
- Experience in PostGreSQL db upgrade.
- Having experience in managing PostGreSQL on Cloud (PAAS/IAAS) is an added advantage.
- Having experience in managing PostGreSQL via Docker/Container is an added advantage.
- Understanding of enterprise application technology architecture, components, databases, networking, and infrastructure as code
- Write efficient queries.
- Strong scripting experience - Unix/Shell Scripting, Python
- Technical knowledge of Linux & Windows-based platforms
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- LDAPs configuration for authentication
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can demonstrate experience in suggesting an improvement idea or working on a continuous improvement initiative.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Committed to learning new technologies and effectively applying them in daily work activities.
- Flexible to provide support after working hours, weekends and/or Wilayah Persekutuan public holidays when required
- Work shifts will align to the Pacific region, hence business support hours will start at 7am KL
- Able to commit to hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum of 3 days in office.
- Candidate should have available transport to commute to office for the expected business support hours.
