Job Description:
Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator II – SQL Server/MariaDB with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Linthicum, Maryland.
In this role, you will join a small, talented database administration team responsible for creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft SQL Server and MariaDB databases across multiple networks and architectures. These databases are hosted in both on-premises data centers and cloud environments.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with hands-on database administration experience, a desire to learn new skills, and an interest in improving and automating database support processes. This individual should work well in a collaborative team environment and be willing to think creatively to identify effective technical solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server and MariaDB databases across multiple networks and architectures.
- Perform patching and routine maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Support database environments hosted in on-premises data centers and cloud environments.
- Monitor database performance and perform index and performance management.
- Troubleshoot issues involving database instances and applications.
- Support database backup and recovery processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive database administration tasks.
- Contribute to the growth and maturity of database administration processes.
- Collaborate with diverse technical teams in support of a common mission.
- Create and maintain technical documentation related to database operations and processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Administrator supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) additional years of Database Administrator experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- An active IAT Level II certification or higher in compliance with DoD 8570.01-M, such as CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, or SSCP.
- Demonstrable experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, and/or Oracle databases.
- Experience with database index and performance management.
- Experience troubleshooting issues involving database instances and applications.
- Experience with database backup and recovery processes.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams in support of a common mission.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of AWS services, specifically Amazon RDS.
- Experience using PowerShell or Python to automate repetitive tasks.
- Exposure to Commvault backup solutions.
- Knowledge of SQL Server AlwaysOn.
- Knowledge of Windows Event Log filtering.
- Knowledge of Windows Task Scheduler setup and management.
- Experience supporting SharePoint implementations.
