Sr Backend | Golang, Node, TypeScript | Payments

What would you do?

• Build and evolve payment services end to end, using Go for new services and Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL to maintain and improve existing systems.

• Design and implement payment gateway integrations, supporting transaction flows such as authorization, capture, cancellation and refunds.

• Build reliable transaction workflows that handle retries, timeouts, idempotency, concurrency, and partial failures while preserving transaction integrity.

• Drive technical solutions from discovery to production, translating business requirements into maintainable designs, identifying risks and dependencies early, and owning the outcome.

• Contribute to the evolution of our payment platform, helping migrate from legacy systems to a scalable, modular architecture while maintaining existing customer operations.

• Ensure production reliability and observability, using monitoring, logs, tracing, automated testing, and incident analysis to prevent issues and improve system resilience.

• Raise engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, pragmatic architectural decisions, testing strategies, and continuous improvement of development practices.

• Collaborate with Product and other engineering teams to clarify requirements, challenge assumptions, communicate trade-offs, and deliver solutions aligned with business priorities.

• Share knowledge and provide technical leadership, mentoring teammates, facilitating technical discussions, and helping others make sound engineering decisions.

• Contribute to deployment and operations using AWS, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Go: strong hands-on experience building production services, designing APIs, managing concurrency, and writing maintainable, well-tested code.

• Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL: experience evolving existing backend systems, working with relational data, optimizing queries, and maintaining transactional integrity.

• Distributed systems and microservices: service boundaries, asynchronous communication, failure handling, retries, and consistency across services.

• Software architecture: clean architecture, domain-driven design, modularity, and pragmatic approaches to legacy modernization.

• Reliability engineering: idempotency, timeouts, observability, incident troubleshooting, and designing resilient systems.

• Automated testing: unit, integration, and contract testing, with a focus on business behavior and critical transaction paths.

• AWS and infrastructure as code: experience with cloud services, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Technical leadership: mentoring engineers, conducting meaningful code reviews, facilitating technical discussions, and influencing decisions without relying on formal authority.

• Cross-functional collaboration: communicating technical trade-offs clearly, aligning with Product, and managing dependencies across teams.

• Payment systems or transactional domains: experience with payment gateways, billing, financial transactions, order processing, or other business-critical workflows. Direct payment experience is a strong plus.

• AI-assisted development as part of your daily workflow: You are already working with AI agents and assistants—not as an experiment, but as a normal part of your workflow.

• Security in payment systems: PCI-DSS scope and tokenization, webhook authentication, and responsible handling of sensitive data
