About the Role:
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will lead the administration, performance, security, and availability of enterprise database environments and IBM Cognos Analytics platforms. You will ensure reliable, scalable, and highly available data and reporting services that support critical business operations. Working across technology, infrastructure, and business teams, you will drive operational excellence through automation, modernization, and continuous improvement. Success in this role is measured through platform availability, performance optimization, security compliance, and dependable reporting services.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Administer, monitor, and optimize enterprise database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Design and implement database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migration strategies.
- Ensure database availability, scalability, performance, and resilience across production environments.
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor system health, identify bottlenecks, and resolve performance issues through proactive tuning.
- Manage database security, access controls, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Administer IBM Cognos Analytics environments, including configuration, upgrades, security, and performance optimization.
- Support report deployment, scheduling, distribution, and integration with enterprise data sources.
- Troubleshoot database and reporting incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive solutions.
- Lead modernization initiatives, automate operational processes, and provide technical guidance to team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Extensive experience administering enterprise database platforms in complex production environments.
- Strong expertise with Microsoft SQL Server administration and performance optimization.
- Experience administering and supporting IBM Cognos Analytics environments.
- Advanced knowledge of database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
- Experience with backup, recovery, high availability, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong skills in database security, access management, auditing, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, SQL scripting, automation tools, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
- Experience with enterprise reporting, business intelligence, and analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with container technologies and cloud-native architectures.
- Knowledge of data warehousing, data integration, and ETL processes.
- Industry certifications related to database administration, cloud platforms, or IBM Cognos Analytics.
