About the Role
PGTEK is seeking a motivated Network Administrator to support high-performance data center networking infrastructure in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.
This is a growth-oriented opportunity for someone with a foundation in IT systems, infrastructure, technical support, or networking who wants to develop advanced data center networking expertise. You will work alongside experienced engineers while gaining hands-on experience with technologies including BGP, ECMP, VXLAN, Spine-Leaf architectures, MCLAG, and RoCEv2.
The ideal candidate is naturally curious, technically motivated, and excited to develop into a highly skilled data center networking professional.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the documentation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-performance data center networking infrastructure.
- Learn and progressively develop expertise with advanced networking technologies, including BGP, ECMP, VXLAN, Spine-Leaf architectures, MCLAG, RoCEv2, and related technologies.
- Assist in identifying performance trends, capacity constraints, and emerging issues before they impact services or customers.
- Partner with experienced engineers to deploy, optimize, and scale network infrastructure supporting AI and other demanding workloads.
- Investigate network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and help drive issues through resolution.
- Participate in network upgrades, implementations, testing, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to network documentation and operational procedures.
- Continuously expand technical expertise through hands-on experience, self-directed learning, mentorship, and training.
- Travel up to 20% as needed to support deployments, installations, maintenance activities, and operational support at customer sites or data centers.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where technology is continuously evolving.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to continuously learn and develop new technical skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
- Current IAM Level II certification to satisfy DoD 8570 IAT requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, SNMP, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Experience with monitoring, telemetry, observability, alerting, or performance management tools.
- Exposure to Linux systems or Linux-based Network Operating Systems (NOS).
