Position Summary:

The Junior Business Analyst, Technology Solutions will support activities related to the planning and execution of technical and integration projects, including, but not limited to, BMS and broker portal integrations. The individual will develop knowledge of the organization’s core applications and technical integrations to provide project support and troubleshooting to internal and external clients. The role requires technical aptitude and an understanding of project management methodologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop subject matter expertise on FIRST’s core applications and technical integrations
  • Assist the project team with drafting technical specifications for software customizations and bug fixes; document workflows and standard operating procedures as they relate to FIRST’s technical solutions
  • Provide support to colleagues and stakeholders in eliciting and documenting project requirements, leading to the development of clearly defined project scopes
  • Perform user acceptance testing including writing test scripts and guiding users on best practices for testing
  • Deliver project stakeholder communications including status updates and follow-up for completion of action items
  • Maintain and update project documentation such as action item lists, IT customization requests, decision logs, issues logs and project schedules
  • Assist with analyzing business processes and recommending opportunities for enhancements and standardized best practices
  • Provide assistance for ad hoc requests including reporting, presentations, data entry, and other tasks as required.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Required:

  • Good understanding of technical concepts
  • Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards change and the ability to adapt to new situations
  • High attention to detail and quality of work
  • Strong capacity to manage one’s time and prioritize competing activities independently
  • A problem-solver, self-starter and collaborative team player
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies

Training / Education / Experience Qualifications:

  • College or university degree
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting technical projects is an asset. Experience within the insurance industry is highly desirable.
  • Project management training is an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $50,000 - $65,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual pay rate may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience
