About the role
The Network Engineer is a member of the ICT Network & Collaboration team responsible for delivering a high level of technical support, development and management of core network, security devices and applications across all Eastern Health sites.
This position will provide expertise and assist with the delivery of the key ICT initiatives and operation maintenance of Eastern Health’s network and communications structure. This will include Cisco Core Networking, WAN, LAN, Wireless, Voice, Video and Security, and maintaining the current environment.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Essential
- 3 Years+ experience in a similar position and/or extensive technical knowledge
- CCNA/CCIE/NSE
- Cisco SDA and ACI fundamentals
- Cisco ISE (identity services engine)
- Proven experience with Cisco core routing protocols including (RIP, OSPF, BGP, EIRGP, VRF)
- Proven experience Cisco Wireless technologies
- Excellent communication skills – will be engaging with business users and project stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills including proficiency in technical writing and documentation
- Good administrative and time management skills
- The flexibility to relate to different kinds of people and situations
- The ability to work in a team while being self-reliant and showing initiative
- The ability to remain calm under pressure
- Availability to participate in after-hour support for related network and security problems and projects
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of contemporary Cybersecurity principals, trends and controls. Demonstrates application to work and thinking.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
