Paragon Cyber Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in support of a critical defense program.
The Cybersecurity Engineer II supports the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of enterprise cybersecurity controls. This role contributes to security operations, threat detection, vulnerability management, and compliance initiatives while working alongside senior security engineers and operations teams.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls across enterprise environments.
- Support SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and firewall technologies.
- Participate in vulnerability management and remediation initiatives.
- Conduct security monitoring, analysis, and incident response support.
- Assist with threat modeling and risk assessments.
- Maintain secure system configurations and security baselines.
- Support compliance activities aligned with NIST, CIS, and organizational policies.
- Investigate security alerts and assist with threat hunting activities.
- Participate in security tool deployment and optimization projects.
- Create technical documentation and operational procedures.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 to 4 years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
- Experience supporting security operations and implementing security controls.
- Experience supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD information systems.
- Experience developing or updating RMF/security authorization documentation such as SSP, RAR, SAP, SAR, POA&M, IRP, CP, SOPs, and CMPs.
- Working knowledge of FISMA, FIPS, NIST, DoDI 8510.01, DoDI 8500.01, and related cybersecurity guidance.
Familiarity with:
- SIEM platforms
- IDS/IPS technologies
- EDR solutions
- Firewall platforms
Understanding of:
- Threat modeling
- Vulnerability management
- Secure configuration baselines
Knowledge of:
- NIST Cybersecurity Framework
- CIS Controls
- Security compliance frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
Security certifications such as:
- Security+
- CISSP
- Similar industry-recognized certifications
