Embedded Software Test Engineer

Embedded Software Test Engineer | GNSS & Positioning Technology | Modena, Italy

Topcon Positioning Group is looking for an Embedded Software Test Engineer to join our team at the TOPCON Facility & Test Centre in Concordia sulla Secchia, Modena.

In this hands-on role, you will support the testing and validation of advanced GNSS products, including receivers, OEM boards and communication devices used in high-precision positioning solutions for construction, geospatial and agriculture applications.

What you will do:

  • Perform verification, validation and R&D testing on GNSS products and related devices.
  • Create test reports and keep test coverage aligned with product requirements.
  • Use automation tools, analyze results and support troubleshooting activities.
  • Help reproduce and investigate issues reported by users and dealers.
  • Work with lab equipment, firmware recovery, modules, SIM cards and device connections.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geomatics, Geodesy, Environmental/Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Geosciences) - or an Italian Geometra technical diploma with practical surveying experience.
  • Practical experience operating survey-grade GNSS equipment in the field (e.g., RTK/DGNSS base and rover setups, precision GIS data collectors, or total stations).
  • Solid understanding of core GNSS concepts, positioning methods, error sources, and local coordinate reference systems.
  • Formal testing or QA background is a plus, but strong user-level familiarity with GNSS hardware and field workflows is fully sufficient

What we offer:

  • Gross annual salary: €45,000 – €55,000, depending on experience and skills.
