Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining Java-based applications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and help translate business and functional requirements into software solutions.
  • Develop and enhance application functionality using Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, and related technologies.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established development standards and best practices.
  • Participate in unit testing, integration testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Assist with developing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating applications with internal and external systems.
  • Work with relational databases and support data access using SQL and persistence frameworks.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and other project team members.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Learn and apply secure coding, cloud, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices as part of ongoing professional development.
  • Support application maintenance and production issues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0–2 years of software development experience, including internships, academic projects, or professional experience.
  • Foundational experience with Java or another object-oriented programming language.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, and basic software development principles.
  • Exposure to Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, or web application development is preferred.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or other web technologies.
  • Familiarity with Git or another source-control system.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.

Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance.

Location: Hybrid (2 Day per week in our Sterling, VA HQ)
