About the Role

We're looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join us on a 6–12-month contract supporting the commercialization of a new instrumentation product. You'll work within existing embedded firmware and desktop software codebases to implement new features, improve reliability, and support product release activities.

This is a hands-on opportunity spanning embedded microcontroller firmware, sensor integration, communications protocols, and Windows application development, working directly alongside experienced engineers on a product headed to market.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain firmware for embedded measurement and instrumentation products
  • Implement enhancements and bug fixes within an existing NXP microcontroller codebase
  • Debug and improve software running in a real-time operating system (RTOS) environment
  • Support implementation and optimization of measurement algorithms using camera and time-of-flight sensor technologies
  • Troubleshoot and enhance communications interfaces and protocols
  • Develop and enhance features within an existing Windows 11 application (SensorVu)
  • Assist with product validation, software testing, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to support product launch activities

What We're Looking For

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with NXP microcontrollers
  • RTOS-based software development
  • Familiarity with communications protocols such as UART, SPI, I²C, USB, CAN, Ethernet, or Modbus
  • Experience interfacing sensors to embedded systems
  • Python or MicroPython
  • C# and Windows desktop application development
  • Background in instrumentation, measurement systems, data acquisition, or industrial products

You Are Someone Who:

  • Enjoys troubleshooting complex technical problems
  • Is comfortable working with both hardware and software
  • Can learn unfamiliar codebases and development environments quickly
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • Takes ownership of assigned projects and delivers results
  • Is fluent in English
