Role Overview

The Lead Healthcare Business Analyst / QA Lead will serve as the link between healthcare business operations and software development. The role involves leading and guiding the team, gathering and documenting business requirements, understanding clinical and billing workflows, translating operational needs into clear specifications for technical teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and owning the quality of what gets delivered. It requires expertise in business analysis, quality assurance, healthcare systems (EMR/EHR), Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and US healthcare regulatory programs such as MU/Promoting Interoperability, MIPS, and ONC certification, along with the domain authority to act as the team's go-to resource on RCM and EHR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead the team, guide team members on business and domain questions, and distribute tasks based on business priority; act as the primary subject matter expert on RCM and EHR, ensuring the team's work aligns with business goals.
  • Requirements Analysis: Conduct stakeholder engagements and workflow analysis; produce BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria; identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Clinical Systems: Apply knowledge of EMR/EHR modules and clinical workflows, and interoperability standards including HL7 v2, FHIR, C-CDA, and USCDI.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Translate regulatory requirements into product requirements and ensure the system stays compliant with Meaningful Use (now Promoting Interoperability), MIPS quality measures and reporting, eCQMs, the ONC Health IT Certification Program (including Cures Act Update and HTI rules), FHIR-based API requirements, information blocking provisions, and HIPAA; track regulatory updates and assess their impact on the product.
  • Revenue Cycle Management: Document requirements across the full billing lifecycle, from registration and eligibility verification through claims, payment posting, and collections, and address claim denials and revenue leakage.
  • QA Leadership: Own the QA process for healthcare features, including test planning, test strategy, and test case design and review; lead the QA team in validating EMR/EHR and RCM workflows against business and regulatory requirements; manage defect triage and prioritization; and sign off on releases before deployment.
  • Delivery and Validation: Maintain requirements traceability from user stories to test cases, lead User Acceptance Testing with stakeholders, and prioritize enhancements by business impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Business, or a related field.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Healthcare IT, or a closely related role.

•

In-depth business and domain knowledge of RCM and EHR, with strong working knowledge of EMR/EHR systems, clinical workflows, and medical billing.

  • Solid understanding of US healthcare compliance and regulatory programs, including MU/Promoting Interoperability, MIPS, ONC certification criteria, FHIR, and HIPAA.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, guide team members, and assign and manage tasks according to business priorities.
  • Hands-on experience leading QA activities, including test planning, test case design and review, defect management, and UAT coordination.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into functional specifications and to collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with US healthcare providers or healthcare software products.

•

Experience supporting ONC certification or MIPS/eCQM reporting, including familiarity with testing tools such as Inferno and Cypress.

  • Familiarity with Practice Management Systems, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and Jira.
  • Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., Jira/Xray, Zephyr, TestRail) and QA certifications such as ISTQB.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate extends beyond documentation or operational billing, with a clear understanding of how healthcare workflows, EMR/EHR systems, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement processes interconnect. They are a confident leader who can serve as the team's domain expert, set priorities, distribute work effectively, and guide technical teams in delivering effective, compliant system functionality. They bring a quality-first mindset, ensuring that every feature is thoroughly validated against real clinical and billing workflows before it reaches users.
