Job Description and Requirements
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent years in the trenches of container orchestration and infrastructure automation, and you know that Kubernetes is only as good as the discipline around how it gets deployed, maintained, and scaled. The difference between a cluster that hums and one that becomes a firefighting exercise is usually a decision about automation, observability, or configuration drift made six weeks earlier, and you are the kind of architect who catches that before it becomes someone else's 2 a.m. page.
You think in infrastructure as code. Terraform templates, Flux manifests, Ansible playbooks, these are not abstractions to you, they are the actual artifacts that keep environments repeatable and teams moving. When a developer asks why their pipeline failed, you do not just fix it, you automate the fix so it does not happen again.
You are comfortable with a development team talking through their CI/CD bottleneck and walking out with a plan that involves GitHub Actions, Rancher configurations, and a Bash script that makes the problem go away. You do not need perfect requirements. You ask the right questions, align with the people who will actually use what you build, and ship something that works.
At Synopsys, you will work on container platforms that support real product development across a global engineering organization. The infrastructure you design will matter.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support and maintain the development and production container environments using Kubernetes and Rancher• Automate infrastructure tasks using tools like Terraform, Flux, Ansible, and GitHub Actions• Support and work with software development teams on CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure needs• Perform infrastructure maintenance and optimization• Test and apply software patches, security upgrades, and configuration changes• Ensure proper uniformity, documentation, and configuration management of infrastructure resources
The Impact You Will Have
- Enable development teams to ship faster by building reliable, self-service infrastructure that reduces friction and manual handoffs
- Reduce operational toil and incident response time by automating repetitive tasks and embedding SRE practices into platform design
- Improve security posture and compliance by ensuring consistent patch management, configuration standards, and infrastructure as code discipline
- Accelerate onboarding and cross-team collaboration by maintaining clear, usable documentation and repeatable deployment patterns
- Strengthen platform resilience by proactively identifying and addressing configuration drift, resource bottlenecks, and failure modes
- Support global engineering productivity by maintaining highly available container environments that development teams depend on daily
- Drive infrastructure modernization by evaluating, testing, and integrating new tools and practices that improve the developer experience
What You'll Need
- Experience with Containers and Kubernetes (Rancher preferred)• Able to write custom and complex scripts, as well as maintain existing scripts (YAML, bash preferred)• Competent in managing, developing, and using deployment automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Flux preferred)• Competent in managing Linux Servers• Ability and desire to quickly learn new technologies• Experience working in a software development organization (Agile preferred)• Technology stack understanding for troubleshooting (network, storage, etc.)• Able to document work performed for cross pollination and repeatability• Motivated and energetic team player• Able to work independently and own tasks to completion
Who You Are
- Familiar with Git and GitHub Actions for CI/CD workflows• Networking experience (routing, switching, firewalls)• Experience with infrastructure as code practices• Familiar with Red Hat Enterprise Linux• Familiar with code scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube)• Familiar with repository management tools (e.g., Artifactory)
