AI-First. Future-Driven. Human-Centered.

At OpenText, AI is at the heart of everything we do—powering innovation, transforming work, and empowering digital knowledge workers. We're hiring talent that AI can't replace to help us shape the future of information management. Join us.

Your Impact:

We are seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead the evolution of OpenText's Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform into a modern, cloud-native architecture powered by the Core Identity Foundation (CIF). This strategic platform serves as the foundation for OpenText's next-generation IAM offerings, delivering secure, scalable, and resilient identity services across both multi-tenant and dedicated deployment models.

As a key technical leader, you will define the architecture that enables enterprises to govern, secure, and manage human, machine, and emerging AI-driven identities at scale. You will help shape the future of identity by expanding support for modern authentication, authorization, identity governance, privileged access, and agentic AI security capabilities, further reinforcing OpenText's leadership position in the identity and access management market.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in distributed cloud systems with a strong background in identity standards, cybersecurity architecture, and enterprise-scale IAM platforms.

What the role offers:

  • Define the long-term architectural vision for OpenText's Identity and Access Management platform, aligning product strategy, technology investments, and customer requirements.
  • Lead the transformation of legacy IAM products and services into a cloud-native, microservices-based SaaS platform.
  • Architect highly scalable identity services supporting authentication, authorization, federation, identity lifecycle management, and policy enforcement across global enterprise environments.
  • Design secure identity infrastructure capable of supporting workforce, customer, partner, machine, and AI-driven identities.
  • Drive innovation in securing and governing non-human identities, service accounts, API identities, workload identities, and agentic AI systems.
  • Architect solutions leveraging modern identity standards and protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, SCIM, FIDO2, WebAuthn, and emerging identity technologies.
  • Define architectures that support Zero Trust security principles, adaptive access controls, risk-based authentication, and continuous authorization models.
  • Modernize data architecture, identity stores, directories, and policy engines to support large-scale identity governance and high-performance access decisions.
  • Establish architectural patterns for multi-tenancy, tenant isolation, compliance, resiliency, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure platform readiness for regulatory and industry compliance requirements including GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, and other applicable standards.
  • Lead cloud architecture decisions across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, product management, customer success, and executive stakeholders to drive platform strategy and execution.
  • Serve as a technical authority and mentor, guiding engineering teams on identity architecture, security best practices, and cloud-native design patterns.
  • Present architectural strategy, innovation roadmaps, and technical direction to executive leadership, customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.

What you need to succeed:

  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise software architecture, distributed systems, or cloud platform engineering.
  • Experience designing or architecting Identity and Access Management (IAM), Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), or Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions.
  • Proven track record modernizing monolithic enterprise platforms into cloud-native, microservices-based architectures.
  • Deep expertise in authentication, authorization, identity federation, access governance, and policy-based security models.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, SCIM, FIDO2, WebAuthn, and PKI-based security.
  • Extensive experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms deployed on public cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust architectures, identity-centric security, API security, secrets management, and secure software design.
  • Deep experience with Kubernetes, containers, service meshes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern cloud-native application patterns.
  • Expertise in designing highly available systems with disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and global scale requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical direction across multiple organizations.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building or architecting enterprise IAM, IGA, or PAM platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Ping Identity, ForgeRock, SailPoint, CyberArk, or similar identity ecosystems.
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust initiatives and identity-centric security programs.
  • Knowledge of identity threat detection and response (ITDR), identity security posture management, and privileged access security.
  • Experience securing machine identities, cloud workload identities, service-to-service authentication, and AI agents.
  • Understanding of emerging standards and frameworks for AI identity, agent authorization, and autonomous system governance.
  • Experience with observability, telemetry, and performance optimization for large-scale distributed identity systems.
