About the Role:

The Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting & Treasury will be responsible for assisting with the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all Corporate Finance and Treasury requirements. They will bring hands-on experience to perform complex accounting activities, compliance reporting and financial analyses. This includes timely cash flow reporting, various ad-hoc financial analysis and daily, month-end and year-end financial reporting as required.

The Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting & Treasury will play a key role in the continued growth and expansion of this organization by way of producing efficient and reliable financial information and the interpretation of financial results. Together with the Manager, Financial Reporting & Treasury and the Director, Financial Reporting & Treasury, they will provide commentary of financial results and forecasts to the Executive team.

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Assist with the day-to-day treasury functions of the organization
  • Assist the financial modelling process by populating financial information, gathering supporting documents across various stakeholders, and other tasks as required
  • Supports budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Supporting the completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they are prepared in a timely fashion and accurately represent the financial position of the company and its operations
  • Maintaining corporate day-to-day accounting processes including posting journal entries and preparing general ledger reconciliations
  • Ensuring compliance with professional accounting standards (IFRS & ASPE), audits, and quality assurance
  • Create and maintain all outstanding debt and investment schedules for both external and related parties
  • Work closely with the OEG Tax team to manage cross departmental teams’ preparation of various deliverables to meet corporate tax deadlines
  • Reviewing and enhancing financial policies to support corporate and industry best practices
  • Continuously seek to improve accounting and reporting processes to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with internal controls
  • Other duties and project-oriented tasks as assigned

Leadership Requirements:

  • Ability to manage cross-departmental projects and coordination of deliverables
  • Contributing to change management initiatives that enhance decision making, continue to ensure appropriate financial controls and improve efficiency of gathering, reporting, and analysing financial information within the organization

Education & Credentials:

  • The ideal individual will possess a post-secondary degree, ideally in Accounting/Finance
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation or working towards is preferred, but not mandatory

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience within Accounting, Finance or business analysis
  • Hands-on experience preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual working papers and Financial Statements, including concise MD&A, cash flow, and variance analysis
  • Experience with IFRS and ASPE, either direct or through public practice
  • Understanding of lender deadlines, reporting discipline, audit lifecycles and deadlines, in a complex multi-entity environment
  • Detail focused, strong business acumen and well versed in financial modelling and analysis
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to determine priorities with strict deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships
  • Experience with accounting software (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Solver, etc.) and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Capable of handling confidential and sensitive information
