Brief Job Description:
Provider Finance is looking for a clear, organized writer who can turn complex information into useful documents people can understand and use. In this role, you will write, edit, and manage reports, manuals, guides, policies, procedures, and other materials that support Provider Finance programs. You will help make technical, financial, regulatory, and program information accurate, consistent, accessible, and easy to follow. This position reports to the Director of Provider Finance, works with limited supervision, uses independent judgment, and may provide guidance or coordination for other staff.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Composes, reviews, edits, and organizes complex technical documents, reports, manuals, guides, policies, procedures, instructional materials, and other written content that supports Provider Finance programs. Ensures materials are clear, accurate, consistent, accessible, and appropriate for the intended audience. 35%
Reviews and evaluates technical, financial, regulatory, and program materials for consistency with quality standards, documentation policies, procedures, and applicable requirements. Identifies needed revisions and works with subject matter experts to improve clarity and usability. 25%
Manages the documentation lifecycle, including document creation, version control, review, approval, updates, and delivery. Maintains organized documentation practices so materials remain current, reliable, and easy to use. 20%
Provides technical writing support, guidance, and coordination for staff and projects. Helps translate complex concepts, processes, and systems into plain language and may prepare or refine technical material for speeches, presentations, and other communications. 15%
Performs other duties as assigned. 5%
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of techniques and methods for planning, organizing, and writing technical materials.
Knowledge of research methodology and applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
Knowledge of plain language principles, user experience, and accessibility standards for written and digital content.
Skill in writing technical and business documents that are clear, accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the intended audience.
Skill in using computers, applicable software, documentation tools, and version control practices to create, edit, organize, and maintain written materials.
Skill in using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Canva, and other software tools to develop, format, edit, and publish written materials.
Skill in organizing complex information for clarity, accessibility, accuracy, consistency, and usability.
Ability to conduct research and compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports.
Ability to communicate effectively and translate technical concepts, processes, systems, financial information, regulatory information, and program information for varied audiences.
Ability to coordinate documentation projects and provide technical writing guidance or oversight to others when needed.
Ability to edit the work of others for clarity, accuracy, consistency, grammar, style, accessibility, and appropriate tone.

Initial Screening Criteria:
Required:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in English, technical communication, journalism, communications, or a related field.
Three years’ experience composing, organizing, reviewing, and editing technical or business documentation.
Relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred:
Experience writing policies, procedures, manuals, how-to guides, reports, or instructional materials.
Experience translating complex financial, technical, regulatory, or program information into clear language.
Experience with document design, graphics, publication layouts, accessibility, version control, and documentation tools.
Experience working in Provider Finance, Medicaid, health care finance, reimbursement, or state government.
Experience coordinating documentation projects and providing technical writing guidance to others.
