QA Engineer Lead

Remote

 

We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer Lead to lead quality assurance efforts for a large-scale federal healthcare program. This individual will be responsible for overseeing testing strategy, quality processes, test automation initiatives, and overall software quality across multiple applications and platforms.

 

The QA Engineer Lead will provide technical leadership to QA teams, collaborate with developers and stakeholders, and ensure that products and releases meet established quality standards, performance requirements, and compliance expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all quality assurance and testing activities across program initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and testing frameworks.
  • Oversee manual, automated, functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing efforts.
  • Establish and enforce QA standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor QA engineers, testers, and automation specialists.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to define quality requirements.
  • Design and implement automated testing solutions to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Monitor defect management processes and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, release planning, and deployment activities.
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and status reporting.
  • Support compliance with federal security, accessibility, and software development requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of software quality assurance experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading QA teams or serving in a QA Lead capacity.
  • Experience with VA systems, processes, and organizational structure.
  • Experience managing healthcare, IT modernization, digital transformation, or clinical support programs within the VA.
  • Experience supporting federal government IT programs.
  • Hands-on experience with test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and quality management processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required federal background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal healthcare or health IT systems.
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards, electronic health records, or healthcare data systems.
  • Certification such as:
  • Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE)
  • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • SAFe Agilist
  • Experience with cloud-based environments and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale modernization programs.

Security Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required federal background investigation or VA clearance.
  • S. Citizenship required.
