Embedded Software Engineer

Paris, hybrid

Noïa Labs is an early-stage neurotechnology company building the next generation of human-AI interfaces.

We are working on one of the most ambitious problems in human-AI interaction: creating a more natural way for people to control, guide, and collaborate with AI systems by relying directly on brain activity. Our approach combines optimized non-invasive neural sensors with large-scale AI models trained across many users to decode human intent from brain signals, without surgery. Noïa Labs was founded by the team behind NextMind (acquired by Snap) and is backed by tier-1 investors.

We are at the beginning of the journey and are building a team of outstanding engineers and scientists where each person can have a major impact on the product and technology.

Role summary

We are seeking a talented Embedded Software Engineer to develop the software that powers our non-invasive neural interface.

You will work on a compact wearable system that must acquire high-quality neural signals in real time while operating under tight constraints on latency, power, reliability, and data quality.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building robust embedded systems, working across firmware and hardware, and iterating quickly in a fast-moving startup environment. The role spans firmware architecture, sensor data acquisition, device communication, hardware bring-up, testing and integration, while working closely with electrical engineering, ML, and product.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, implement, and validate embedded software for our wearable neural interface.
  • Develop firmware for sensor acquisition, timing, buffering, and communication.
  • Bring up, debug, and validate hardware prototypes with the electronics team.
  • Optimize embedded systems for latency, power, reliability, and signal quality.
  • Build tools and tests to validate device behavior and data quality.
  • Work with infra and ML teams to stream neural data reliably into the platform.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturers to turn prototypes into products.

For this role, you must have:

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software, firmware engineering, or a related field
  • Strong experience writing reliable embedded software in C, C++, or Rust
  • Experience with microcontrollers, bare-metal systems, RTOS, or embedded Linux
  • Experience developing firmware for battery-powered or resource-constrained embedded systems
  • Experience with BLE, Wi-Fi, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, or other device communication protocols
  • Experience debugging firmware and hardware issues with lab equipment
  • Strong ownership, practical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail

Ideally, you have:

  • Experience with wearable devices, consumer electronics, medical devices, AR/VR devices, smartwatches, fitness trackers, or biosensing devices
  • Experience with products using EEG, EMG, ECG, PPG, optical, inertial, or other physiological sensors
  • Experience with real-time signal acquisition, synchronization, buffering, or streaming
  • Experience with secure firmware updates, OTA updates, embedded security, or production firmware workflows
  • Experience supporting hardware bring-up, test automation, supplier coordination, or EVT/DVT/PVT builds
