SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – MARINE & HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION
Location: Hawaii - Local Hawaii candidates are preferred
POSITION SUMMARY
Orion Marine Contractors has an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Marine & Heavy Civil Construction in Hawaii.
Orion is a leading self-performing marine and heavy civil construction contractor serving public- and private-sector clients throughout the United States and beyond. Orion delivers complex infrastructure projects involving ports and marine terminals, piers and wharves, bridges, marine foundations, pile driving, waterfront structures, coastal infrastructure, and other heavy civil construction.
This position is accountable for providing senior-level project management support to Orion Marine Contractors and maintaining superior customer relationships. Responsibilities include managing project execution, developing bid packages, calculating project costs, selecting suppliers and subcontractors, procuring materials and services, interpreting plans and specifications, scheduling project activities, providing project oversight, managing cost and financial performance, interfacing with project personnel and clients, and helping ensure successful project completion and closeout.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion and profitability of ongoing and new projects.
• Provides overall project management leadership, guidance, and oversight to Superintendents, Foremen, Project Engineers, Field Engineers, and other project personnel.
• Manages the planning and execution of complex marine and heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.
• Develops bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects and ensures timely submission of completed proposals.
• Negotiates contracts, subcontracts, purchase agreements, and change orders as required by the business.
• Develops and monitors project budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and financial performance to ensure projects achieve established profitability objectives.
• Estimates project costs, including materials, equipment, subcontractors, services, labor, and other associated project expenses.
• Procures materials, equipment, subcontractors, and services from suppliers as required by project needs.
• Interprets project plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documents for customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and project personnel.
• Develops and manages project schedules according to contract requirements and project timelines to ensure timely completion.
• Monitors project progress, production, cost performance, schedule, quality, and contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provides an effective interface between project team members, operations leadership, suppliers, subcontractors, customers, owners, engineers, and other stakeholders involved in project execution.
• Identifies project risks and works proactively with project and operational leadership to develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Supports change management, claims documentation, contract administration, and resolution of project-related issues.
• Ensures project team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices, procedures, and Company policies.
• Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that contribute to compliance with State and Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
• Must be qualified and physically able to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites.
• Maintains the confidentiality of all confidential, proprietary, and trade secret information belonging to the Company.
• Is responsible and accountable for personal safety and the safety of coworkers and others encountered during the performance of assigned duties.
• Is authorized and obligated to stop work whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or observed.
• Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
• Promptly reports violations of applicable laws, regulations, or Company policies and procedures.
• Performs other related administrative and technical duties as assigned or requested by immediate supervision, including certification training, safety training, and procedure review.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant construction experience, or equivalent applicable work experience, required.
• Demonstrated experience in marine construction and/or self-performing heavy civil construction is required.
• Senior-level project management experience successfully delivering complex construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Project Management and Administration, Marine Construction Materials and Methods, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Engineering and Project Standards, and Safety and Environmental Compliance.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, schedules, change orders, procurement, subcontractors, and project closeout.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate Superintendents, Foremen, Project Engineers, Field Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project personnel.
• Strong understanding of self-perform construction operations and the relationship between field production, scheduling, cost control, safety, and overall project profitability.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, and other technical documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with owners, clients, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, and Company leadership.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand the technical and operational aspects of the business.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work out of town for extended periods as project requirements dictate.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. This is a safety-sensitive position.
The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in or visiting areas where PPE is required. This may include hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, personal flotation devices, and other protective equipment required by the work being performed and the jobsite environment.
The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstances and as directed by Safety Representatives or other management personnel. The individual must be capable of evacuating a work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
In addition, the successful candidate must be capable of:
• Walking, stepping, climbing, and otherwise moving throughout active construction sites.
• Safely accessing and exiting work barges, boats, vessels, docks, piers, and other marine facilities of varying heights and access conditions.
• Working around active marine and heavy civil construction operations.
• Adapting to extreme temperature changes.
• Adapting to outdoor working conditions and prolonged exposure to weather and environmental conditions.
