Position Summary

The Business Analyst is responsible for systematically investigating, analyzing, and documenting business functions and processes to identify opportunities for improvement. This role defines clear requirements for technology solutions that enhance business procedures. The Business Analyst collaborates closely with the Scrum Master and may, when needed, fulfill both Business Analyst and Scrum Master responsibilities within agile project teams. Before recommending or implementing new business solutions, the Business Analyst ensures a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s current state. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of assigned work with minimal direction. This position requires a high level of discretion and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Documentation
- Facilitate meetings with internal users to elicit and clarify business requirements, translating them into clear, actionable technical specifications.
- Prepare and distribute comprehensive meeting notes and requirements documentation, including functional specifications, interfaces, reports, forms, and workflows, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned.
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as a liaison between business users, developers, and QA analysts, ensuring requirements are accurately understood and implemented within the scrum team.
- Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders, providing updates and clarifications as needed.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and functionality reviews to verify that business requirements are fully met.
- Identify, communicate, and help resolve issues throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Process & Standards
- Apply knowledge of Agile and traditional project management principles to support project delivery.
- Escalate issues to management promptly to avoid project delays.
- Adhere to MedRisk’s standard practices and policies to maintain the integrity and quality of deliverables.
Professional Development
- Maintain up-to-date job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations and networks.

Qualifications
- Required:
- Some college-level coursework in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Proficiency with project tracking and documentation tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Advanced analytical and time management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated professional who takes initiative, works independently, and follows through on commitments.
- Preferred:
- Experience working in Agile environments or on Scrum teams
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA, Certified Scrum Master)
- Experience with data analysis or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL)
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal skills, including stakeholder management and conflict resolution
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
