The teams at our Support Centre work with every other area of our business, putting them at the heart of the action and playing a key role in our success and growth. Everyone brings their individual knowledge and experience to work every day, working as one team to keep things moving smoothly.

If you’re willing to get stuck in, you’ll love it here too. So put yourself at the heart of a dynamic, fast-paced working environment where expertise and focus take people far.

The role

As a Finance Data Analyst, you'll play a key role in helping the business turn complex financial and operational data into meaningful insight. While you’ll be sat within the finance team, this is very much reporting and analytics role rather than a traditional finance position, giving you the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders and influence decision-making through high-quality reporting and analysis.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for producing, improving, and automating reports, while investigating and validating data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency. You'll work closely with Finance, IT, and other business teams to understand reporting requirements, create reporting solutions in Excel and Power BI, and provide insight that helps stakeholders understand what the numbers are telling them and why.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue our journey towards a best-in-class reporting environment. There is significant scope to improve processes, increase automation, explore the use of AI, and shape how reporting is delivered in the future. With support from an experienced manager and exposure to a broad range of stakeholders, this role offers excellent development opportunities for someone looking to grow their analytical, reporting, and business partnering skills.

Key responsibilities

• Produce, maintain, and enhance financial and operational reports using data from a variety of sources

• Investigate data anomalies, validate outputs, and identify the drivers behind trends and performance changes

• Work with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to gather reporting requirements and develop new reporting solutions

• Build reporting prototypes and analytical models in Excel, supporting the development of scalable reporting processes

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards that provide clear, accurate, and actionable insight

• Support the automation of manual reporting activities, improving efficiency and reducing risk

• Present findings and insights in a clear and engaging way, helping stakeholders make informed business decisions

About you

• Solid, demonstrable experience with Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and working with large and complex datasets

• Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence, with knowledge of producing and maintaining reports

• Experience using Power BI or similar reporting and visualisation tools

• Naturally curious and analytical, with the ability to investigate issues and identify the root cause of data anomalies

• Confident communicator who is comfortable engaging with stakeholders and discussing findings and recommendations

• Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment

• An interest in automation, AI, and continuous improvement would be advantageous

Reward & benefits

• A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave

• Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations

• We offer hybrid working with a blend of working in our Support Centre and from home

• You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services

• Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords

Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.
