About the Company
Why We Built Lyric: Supply chains are more critical and complex than ever. Every day, large enterprises navigate trillions of possible decisions that could impact the bottom line. Powerful algorithms and AI can address these problems, yet most organizations struggle to leverage supply chain AI at scale. The current SCM technologies are either rigid, limited-scope point solutions or custom solutions built in-house, which demand immense expertise and investment.
That is…until now.
Enter Lyric: Lyric is an enterprise AI platform built specifically for supply chains, offering the best of both worlds:
- Out-of-the-box AI solutions for optimizing networks, allocating inventory, scheduling routes, planning fulfillment capacity, promising orders, propagating demand, building predictions, analyzing scenarios, and more, plus
- A platform-first approach that empowers both business and technical users with end-to-end product composability, leveraging no-code tools, their own code, or even forking our code to build and refine supply chain decision intelligence
With Lyric, enterprises no longer have to choose between flexibility and speed, they get both.
The Mission: We’re building a new era in supply chain with the team best equipped to lead it. With over 20 years at the intersection of supply chain and algorithms, we developed a deep conviction that global supply chains needed something like Lyric. Since our inception in December 2021, that conviction has been validated time and time again.
Today, a growing number of Fortune 500 companies, including Smurfit WestRock, Estée Lauder, Coca-Cola, and more, are innovating on their own terms with Lyric. We can’t wait to see what our customers, both current and future, are empowered to build with us next. Come build with us!
The Role
Retail planning is still largely built around planners navigating workflows, interpreting data, making hundreds of decisions, and manually translating those decisions into action.
We think there is a fundamentally different future.
At Lyric, we're building the next generation of Retail Planning capabilities, combining deep planning intelligence with agent-first product experiences that can reason, recommend, act, and increasingly execute planning work autonomously.
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager, Retail Planning to help build that future.
This isn't just about digitizing existing retail planning workflows. You'll help determine which decisions should remain planner-led, which should become AI-assisted, and which can become truly autonomous.
What You'll Do
Build Lyric's Retail Planning capabilities
- Own product strategy and execution for major Retail Planning workflows across Hardlines and Softlines.
- Develop a deep understanding of how retailers make assortment, inventory, allocation, replenishment, pricing, and related planning decisions.
- Translate messy, interconnected planning problems into clear product primitives, workflows, and capabilities.
- Work directly with retailers and planners to understand where existing planning systems break down and where Lyric can create step-change improvements.
- Define product requirements, prioritize the roadmap, and drive products from discovery through launch and adoption.
Reimagine Retail Planning for an agent-first world
- Challenge the assumption that planning software should simply provide better dashboards and workflows.
- Identify planning decisions and activities that AI agents can analyze, recommend, orchestrate, or execute autonomously.
- Design human-agent interactions that give planners leverage without removing the context, judgment, and control they need.
- Work with AI/ML and engineering teams on products that reason across large amounts of retail data and operate across multi-step planning workflows.
- Help define what the role of the retail planner looks like when agents can increasingly perform the repetitive analytical and operational work.
Become deeply embedded in the customer problem
- Spend significant time with planning teams, operators, and retail leaders.
- Develop strong intuition around differences between categories, channels, seasons, inventory structures, and retail operating models.
- Separate customer requests from underlying problems and build products that generalize across retailers.
- Partner with customers during early deployments and use real-world usage to rapidly improve the product.
Drive outcomes, not feature delivery
- Define clear measures of success for the capabilities you own.
- Understand whether products are actually changing planner behavior and improving retail decisions.
- Make trade-offs across usability, sophistication, autonomy, explainability, and speed.
- Operate with high ownership across product, commercial, and customer outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of Product Management experience, ideally building complex B2B, enterprise, data, planning, optimization, or decision-support products.
- Strong understanding of retail planning, particularly within Hardlines and/or Softlines retail.
- Experience working on problems involving assortment, inventory, allocation, replenishment, merchandising, pricing, forecasting, or adjacent planning domains is highly valuable.
- Ability to understand complex business systems and reduce them into clear product abstractions.
- Strong product judgment. You can distinguish between recreating an existing workflow and designing a materially better way of solving the problem.
- Comfortable working with data-heavy products and collaborating closely with engineering, data science, and AI/ML teams.
- Excellent customer discovery skills. You can go several layers deeper than what a user initially asks for.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable operating in an environment with significant ambiguity, high autonomy, and a high bar for execution.
We'd Be Particularly Excited If
- You've built products used by merchandise planners, inventory planners, allocators, buyers, or other retail planning teams.
- You've worked inside a major retailer or closely with enterprise retail customers.
- You've built AI-native or agentic products rather than simply adding AI features to an existing application.
- You naturally question whether a workflow needs to exist at all before optimizing it.
- You enjoy domains where product management requires learning the underlying business deeply enough to debate with experts.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you should be able to:
- Become one of Lyric's internal experts on Hardlines and Softlines retail planning.
- Own and materially advance a meaningful portion of Lyric's Retail Planning product.
- Build trusted relationships with sophisticated retail customers and planners.
- Ship products that replace meaningful amounts of manual planning work, not merely make those workflows slightly faster.
- Establish repeatable patterns for how AI agents and human planners collaborate, moving Lyric progressively toward autonomous retail planning.
