ABOUT US
Our mission at Avelios is to unlock clinical data to power seamless healthcare operations for better patient care. To do so, we have built a modular software platform that digitizes and optimizes workflows in hospitals with cutting-edge technology in a user-friendly way. With our software, we enable hospitals, doctors & nurses to provide their patients with the best possible care. We are growing fast and want to keep expanding our team and business to fundamentally digitize healthcare for the better. We appreciate different backgrounds and see diversity as one of our strengths.
THE TEAM AND ROLE
To continue shaping the future of healthcare, we are looking for a Senior AI Product Designer (all genders) to join our product team.
At Avelios, AI is a core part of our platform, not an add-on feature. You will work closely with Machine Learning engineers, product managers, software engineers, and medical experts to design AI-powered experiences that help clinicians work faster, make better decisions, and stay in control. From medical documentation and patient summaries to AI search and clinical workflows, you will shape how AI supports everyday work in hospitals.
As a senior member of our design team, you will turn emerging AI capabilities into intuitive product experiences, define interaction patterns for AI systems, and help establish our approach to AI design. Through hands-on design, rapid prototyping, and constant user validation, you will raise the quality bar for AI-powered healthcare software.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design AI product experiences: Design AI-powered product experiences that balance user needs, clinical requirements, technical feasibility, and business goals across workflows such as medical documentation, patient summaries, and AI-powered search. Create intuitive interaction patterns for AI systems, including agent workflows, multimodal interactions, model uncertainty, and approval flows that keep clinicians in control.
- Drive product discovery: Take ideas from ambiguous problem spaces through concept development, interactive prototyping, and user validation. Explore new opportunities, challenge assumptions, and shape product direction even when requirements are still evolving.
- Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with Machine Learning engineers, product managers, software engineers, and clinicians to translate new model capabilities into intuitive, trustworthy product experiences.
- Shape our AI design foundation: Contribute AI-specific components and interaction patterns to our design system, and establish new AI design principles across the Avelios platform. Recommend best practices for introducing AI features to an often less tech-savvy user base while maintaining their trust.
- Raise the quality bar: Build high-fidelity prototypes, develop meaningful validation approaches for AI-assisted experiences, and contribute to a strong design culture through thoughtful feedback, knowledge sharing, and exceptional attention to craft.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience designing complex software products, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong product thinking and visual craft in B2B, enterprise, or similarly demanding environments.
- Experience designing AI-powered products and a solid understanding of non-deterministic systems, including model uncertainty, verification, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop workflows. You know the common pitfalls and fallback strategies for these types of systems.
- Strong product design skills, including UX research, interaction design, high-fidelity prototyping, concept validation, and experience contributing to scalable design systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Machine Learning engineers, product managers, software engineers, and clinicians, translating technical capabilities into intuitive and trustworthy product experiences.
- High agency with a hands-on mindset. You like to build and experiment. You thrive moving fast in messy, ambiguous spaces, and know how to leverage AI tools throughout your design process.
- Experience in healthcare or other high-stakes domains is a plus.
- Fluent in English; solid proficiency in German.
YOUR BENEFITS
- Variety in your tasks and the opportunity to take ownership
- An international, informal team structure in a motivating start-up atmosphere, allowing you to participate directly in our customer growth story and the overall success of Avelios
- Ability to gain valuable hands-on experience in a startup backed by leading international VCs
- Support for your personal development through continuous learning and feedback
- Set your own rhythm with flexible working hours and trust-based time tracking
- A virtual stock option package (VSOP) that lets you participate in Avelios’ long-term value creation
- A monthly meal allowance up to 75 euros, full coverage of the Deutschlandticket, Urban Sports Club or a subsidized Wellpass membership, a bike leasing program and Corporate Benefits that give you access to discounts from a wide range of providers in various areas
