The opportunity:
As PMO Manager (R&D and Engineering IT – Mechanical CAD), you will coordinate and drive strategic initiatives and projects across Mechanical CAD and related engineering application portfolios. You will establish practical governance, integrated plans, decision forums, reporting, and communication routines that connect Service Manager, Application Portfolio Managers, engineering business stakeholders, and strategic vendors. You will provide clear visibility of scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, actions, financials, and benefits. The role combines hands-on execution with strong stakeholder management and ensures that commitments are translated into coordinated, traceable, and sustainable progress across the MCAD ecosystem.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Drive cross-portfolio initiatives and projects across Mechanical CAD and related engineering application landscapes from initiation through closure and benefit tracking.
- Establish and maintain fit-for-purpose PMO governance, including charters, integrated plans, milestones, decision logs, action tracking, status reporting, and closure criteria.
- Translate strategic priorities and business needs into clear workstreams, deliverables, ownership, dependencies, and measurable outcomes.
- Coordinate Service Managers, Application Portfolio Managers, Product Owners, R&D and engineering business stakeholders, and external partners around shared priorities and delivery commitments.
- Prepare concise, audience-specific communications, leadership updates, steering materials, project briefings, and change or adoption messages.
- Plan and facilitate governance forums, workshops, reviews, and decision meetings; document outcomes and ensure timely follow-through.
- Maintain transparent oversight of scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, benefits, risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Coordinate vendor deliverables, service and project commitments, dependencies, performance reviews, and improvement actions in partnership with commercial and technical owners.
- Drive consistent ways of working, reusable templates, dashboards, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across the MCAD portfolio.
- Use data and digital tools, including AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate, to improve reporting quality, identify delivery insights, and reduce administrative effort.
- Ensure projects and initiatives follow applicable internal governance, cybersecurity, architecture, procurement, data, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
- Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- 8–15 years of experience in PMO, project or program management, service management, portfolio coordination, transformation, or a comparable role in a global environment.
- Proven experience driving multiple concurrent initiatives involving business, IT, delivery teams, and external vendors.
- Strong project governance capabilities, including planning, milestone control, RAID management, dependency management, executive reporting, and benefit tracking.
- Exposure to Mechanical CAD and engineering application ecosystems such as PTC, Autodesk, Bentley, simulation tools, PLM, or PDM is an advantage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI; experience with project and work management tools is expected.
- Practical knowledge of Agile and SAFe ways of working. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe, ITIL, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- A structured, proactive, collaborative, and outcome-oriented working style, with strong attention to detail and confidence to challenge constructively.
- Demonstrates effective use of AI and digital tools to enhance problem-solving, decision-making, and productivity, while applying sound judgment, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and maintaining accountability for outcomes.
