Qualifications
The Lab Pack Project Manager is responsible for establishing, developing, and leading VLS Environmental Solutions’ Lab Pack and hazardous waste brokerage services within the Waste North Region. This position will enhance a new service offering while expanding VLS’s ability to provide comprehensive hazardous waste solutions to new and existing customers. Working closely with Sales, Operations, Transportation, and disposal partners, the Lab Pack Project Manager will identify opportunities, develop project solutions, coordinate field and transportation activities, and oversee projects from initial waste assessment and quoting through packaging, transportation, disposal, and final documentation. The position will serve as a key technical and operational resource, using specialized hazardous waste knowledge to support business development and ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with applicable DOT and EPA regulations. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, project management, customer service, business development, and problem-solving skills. The Lab Pack Project Manager will be instrumental in building vendor and disposal relationships, developing new customer opportunities, supporting the Sales team, and creating sustainable processes that position VLS for continued growth in the hazardous waste and lab packing market.
JOB DUTIES
- Ensure clients’ needs are the primary focus of each project .
- Be able to improvise and adapt to change in project scope .
- Obtain a waste inventory and be able to quote packaging and disposal for a wide variety of projects (laboratories, schools, demolition sites, etc.) .
- Occasional weekend and evening as needed.
- Build working relationships with hazardous waste disposal outlets to facilitate profile approval and waste delivery.
- Segregate hazardous waste by hazard class, assign proper shipping descriptions, properly mark containers and vehicles for transport .
- Manage the logistics .
- Complete critical documentation to comply with DOT/EPA Regulations; Manifests, Drivers Logs, Land Disposal Restrictions, Waste Profiles, Inventory Sheets, etc.
- Communicate with customers.
REQUIREMENTS
- HS Diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (Tanker and Haz Endorsements are preferred) .
- Due to this position's interstate travel in a commercial vehicle and federal regulations, candidates must be 21 years or older .
- Highly Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record and Criminal Background .
- Ability to work safely around acutely hazardous waste .
- Flexible schedule being able to work 50+hours/week, if needed .
- Availability for Emergency Response .
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to detail .
- Ability to thrive on hard work and demonstrated pride in solutions-oriented results.
