Job Summary:

The Senior Project Manager will use creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems. They will make decisions and recommendations that are authoritative and have an important impact on extensive organizational activities. The Engineer VII – Senior Project Manager will set priorities and reconcile directions from competing interests, while working on programs with complex features.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and client expectations. Lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, construction support, and closeout. Monitor project performance and take corrective action when delivery, financial, or client objectives are at risk. Support proposal development, interviews, client presentations, and business development activities. Mentor project managers, engineers, and technical staff. Coordinate with internal operations, safety, finance, contracts, and leadership teams. Promote safe, compliant, and high quality delivery on office and field assignments. Support change management and claims avoidance Maintaining client satisfaction and delivery accountability Proficient with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite) Advanced oral and written communication skills Lead project meetings and makes presentations Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture, free from behaviors that undermine morale, productivity, or organizational values Uphold the organization’s standards of integrity, accountability, and respect in all duties and interactions Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs

QualificationsKnowledge Skills and Abilities:

Advanced project management and multidisciplinary coordination Client relationship management Rail engineering standards and constructability knowledge Budget, schedule, scope, and risk management Leadership of technical teams and project delivery staff Strong written, oral, and executive communication skills Ability to resolve complex project, client, and organizational issues Railroad, transit, or rail infrastructure project delivery Coordination with agencies, freight railroads, contractors, and design teams Knowledge of rail safety, field coordination, standards, and constructability Ability to support design, construction support, PMCM, or program delivery assignments

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program 15+ years prior experience 5+ years prior experience in project management

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues Business development skills In-depth knowledge of industry standards and guidelines Established relationships with railroad clients

Additional Preferred Qualifications, Certifications, etc:

Professional Engineer (PE), equivalent Member of professional practice organization, national board member or officer, recognized expert on statewide activity, resource for national activities and organization
