Now Brewing: engineer II - Front-end iOS! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As the engineer II, you will play a critical role in advancing our enterprise technology solutions, supporting the platforms that underpin in-store partner tooling. This role sits at the intersection of Partner Tech, Retail Operations, and Enterprise Data & Analytics, driving platform-based solutions that balance standardization, flexibility, and innovation at scale.

You will execute the strategy, engineering, and delivery for Digital Experience platforms, ensuring these systems operate as enterprise-grade, resilient, and extensible capabilities that unlock business outcomes—not just point solutions. These products are at the heart of shift execution and should increasingly leverage AI and intelligent automation to improve productivity, accelerate decision-making, and enhance problem solving for partners and operators

As an engineer II, you will...

  • Build, iterate, and enhance iOS applications used by Starbucks partners to support store readiness and day-to-day store experiences.
  • Deliver accessible, reliable, maintainable, and well-tested features from implementation through production.
  • Contribute to technical design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and the evolution of mobile engineering practices.
  • Integrate iOS applications with GraphQL APIs, REST APIs, and backend services.
  • Collaborate across product, design, backend, QA, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Improve application quality through unit, integration, and automated UI testing.
  • Diagnose and resolve application defects, crashes, performance issues, and reliability problems.
  • Participate in CI/CD, application releases, production support, and incident-resolution activities.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, operational runbooks, team tooling, and knowledge sharing.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully across development, testing, debugging, documentation, and code review.
  • Apply appropriate judgment when reviewing AI-generated solutions to maintain standards for quality, security, testing, and maintainability.
  • Continue developing broader technical ownership across mobile development, backend integration, and application delivery.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 3+ years of professional software-development experience, including professional iOS development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Swift and experience developing applications using SwiftUI and/or UIKit.
  • Experience with Swift concurrency, asynchronous programming, networking, application lifecycle, and state management.
  • Experience integrating iOS applications with GraphQL APIs, including data modeling, queries, mutations, error handling, caching, and resilient client-server interactions.
  • Experience integrating mobile applications with REST APIs and backend services.
  • Understanding of modern iOS architecture, modular application development, state management, and dependency management.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests and familiarity with automated UI testing.
  • Experience with Git, pull requests, code reviews, branching, and collaborative software-development workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and automated mobile build, test, and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience debugging application defects, crashes, and performance issues using Xcode, logging, profiling, and application-monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with application health and observability, including crash analysis, performance monitoring, and production diagnostics.
  • Understanding of secure mobile development, authentication, authorization, secure token handling, and application-data protection.
  • Experience delivering features through the software-development lifecycle, including implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile product team and collaborate across product, design, backend engineering, QA, and operations.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools or agents, with an understanding of the importance of reviewing and validating AI-generated code and recommendations.
