About the Role
Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Energy Networks & Renewables team in Christchurch.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the transmission and distribution sector, including protection upgrades, substation extensions, and network improvement works. You'll manage a diverse portfolio of projects, typically overseeing multiple projects at any one time, with values ranging from smaller upgrade works through to significant capital projects.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while leading and developing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple infrastructure projects
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to contractual requirements
- Lead and coordinate field staff, technicians, supervisors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Develop and maintain project schedules, forecasts, budgets, and risk registers
- Manage project costs, variations, claims, and financial performance
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety requirements
- Monitor project progress and provide regular reporting on performance and outcomes
- Support and mentor supervisors and project team members
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery
About You
We're open to candidates from a variety of infrastructure backgrounds, including electrical, utilities, civil construction, telecommunications, or related project environments.
You'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience managing infrastructure, construction, or utilities projects
- Strong project planning, scheduling, and delivery expertise
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects
- Sound commercial, contractual, and financial management skills
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors
- Strong stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence
Desirable Experience
- High voltage, transmission, distribution, utilities, or renewable energy project experience
- Substation, protection systems, or network infrastructure project delivery experience
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, and project management systems
- SAP experience
