Brown & Brown is seeking a Sr. Manager, Network Engineer to join our growing team in Daytona Beach, FL.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Network Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, delivery, and ongoing optimization of our enterprise network environment. This leader will oversee a team of network engineering professionals responsible for providing secure, reliable, scalable, and high-performing connectivity across our offices, data centers, cloud platforms, and remote workforce.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic leader with deep expertise in enterprise networking, cloud connectivity, network security, automation, and infrastructure modernization. This individual will collaborate closely with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, application, and business leaders to ensure network capabilities support organizational growth, operational resilience, and an exceptional user experience.
How You Will Contribute:
Network Strategy and Architecture
- Develop and execute the enterprise network strategy, roadmap, and architectural standards.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, data center, cloud, and remote-access environments.
- Ensure network architecture is secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with business and technology priorities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Establish engineering standards, technical documentation, lifecycle plans, and network governance practices.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of network engineers and technical professionals.
- Establish clear performance expectations, priorities, and development plans.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Support workforce planning, resource allocation, succession planning, and talent development.
- Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex network issues and critical initiatives.
Operations and Service Delivery
- Oversee network availability, performance, capacity, monitoring, and incident response.
- Establish service-level objectives, performance metrics, and operational reporting.
- Lead the resolution of complex outages and recurring performance issues through structured root-cause analysis.
- Strengthen network resilience through redundancy, disaster recovery, business continuity, and proactive capacity planning.
- Partner with IT service management teams to improve incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes.
- Participate in an on-call escalation structure for critical network events, as needed.
Security and Risk Management
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement secure network architecture, segmentation, access controls, and threat-mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security standards, regulatory requirements, and technology control frameworks.
- Support vulnerability remediation, audit activities, penetration testing, and risk assessments.
- Promote Zero Trust principles across network architecture and access models.
- Maintain current documentation for network topology, configurations, dependencies, and recovery procedures.
Technology Transformation and Vendor Management
- Lead network modernization, cloud connectivity, office integration, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
- Drive greater use of automation, infrastructure as code, telemetry, and proactive monitoring.
- Manage strategic vendor relationships, service providers, licensing agreements, contracts, and technology investments.
- Develop business cases, budgets, forecasts, and total-cost-of-ownership analyses for network initiatives.
- Ensure third-party providers meet performance, security, contractual, and service-level expectations.
- Provide technical leadership during mergers, acquisitions, office openings, consolidations, and technology integrations.
Skills & Experience to be Successful: Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Eight or more years of progressive experience in enterprise networking, infrastructure engineering, or related technology discipline.
- Three or more years of experience leading network engineering teams or highly complex technical functions.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and network segmentation.
- Experience supporting geographically distributed, highly available enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking within Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or similar platforms.
- Experience with SD-WAN, network monitoring, performance management, and infrastructure automation.
- Demonstrated experience leading major network implementations, modernization programs, or technology integrations.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, identity-based access, Zero Trust, and risk management practices.
- Experience managing technology vendors, budgets, contracts, and managed-service providers.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a large, complex, or acquisition-driven organization.
- Experience supporting regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, healthcare, or professional services.
- Knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Aruba, F5, Zscaler, Microsoft Azure, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with automation tools and languages such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and enterprise service management platforms.
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, CISSP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or equivalent credentials.
- Experience presenting network strategies, risks, performance metrics, and investment recommendations to senior leadership.
