Position Overview

The Sales Engineer will support Ceragon's Utilities business in North America, with particular expertise in SCADA, narrowband wireless, and mission-critical private networks.

This is a customer-facing pre-sales role responsible for understanding customer requirements, developing end-to-end technical solutions, and supporting opportunities from initial discovery through solution design, proposal, and technical closure.

The ideal candidate combines strong RF and networking expertise with the ability to engage customers, understand operational requirements, and translate them into compelling technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for utility, SCADA, and narrowband wireless opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales to understand customer requirements, develop solution strategies, and drive opportunities toward technical closure.
  • Design end-to-end private network solutions incorporating narrowband RF, point-to-point microwave, and IP networking technologies.
  • Perform pre-sales RF design including link budgets, frequency planning, path analysis, and coverage planning.
  • Conduct customer discovery sessions, technical workshops, solution presentations, demonstrations, and design reviews.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical proposals, RFP responses, network designs, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Develop SCADA network architectures utilizing DNP3, Modbus, and other industrial IP protocols.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers throughout the sales cycle.
  • Work closely with Product Management and R&D to communicate market requirements, competitive gaps, and opportunities for solution improvement.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive technologies and market trends within the utility and industrial communications markets.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Systems Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or similar customer-facing technical roles supporting private wireless networks.
  • Strong experience within electric utilities, oil & gas, water/wastewater, or other mission-critical industrial environments.
  • Experience with SCADA and narrowband wireless technologies and vendors such as GE MDS, 4RF, Racom, FreeWave, XetaWave, or similar.
  • Experience with microwave and private network solutions; Ceragon, Siklu, Cambium, or comparable platforms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead customer-facing technical discussions and translate operational requirements into network solutions.
  • Experience developing technical proposals, BOMs, RFP responses, and solution architectures.
  • Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of narrowband wireless and RF fundamentals, including coverage and frequency planning.
  • Experience with SCADA communications and industrial applications, including protocols such as DNP3 and Modbus.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking as it relates to private wireless and SCADA networks.
  • Understanding of private network architectures and mission-critical communications.
  • Familiarity with microwave, industrial cybersecurity, and network segmentation is a plus.

Travel

  • Hybrid position with up to 50% travel for customer meetings, technical workshops, site assessments, and other pre-sales activities.
