Position: Linux System Administrator Level 2

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

Employment Type: Full-Time

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Salary Range: $118,000 – $142,000 / year (dependent on experience, education, and skill set)

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator (Level 2) to provide comprehensive systems administration, operations, troubleshooting, and infrastructure support in Annapolis Junction, MD.

In this role, you will manage day-to-day operations and configurations across enterprise client, server, storage, network, and mobile systems. You will handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 escalations, execute server and workstation upgrades, perform physical hardware installations, optimize resource utilization, and maintain UNIX/Linux and Windows operating environments to maximize system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, manage, patch, and maintain enterprise Linux (CentOS 7, Rocky 9, RHEL 9) and Windows operating systems.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting, incident diagnosis, and issue resolution for client, server, storage, and network components.
  • Execute hardware and software installations, system upgrades, and migrations for servers, workstations, and laptops.
  • Support Secure the Enterprise (STE) requirements and customer-specific secure data transfer processes.
  • Optimize system operations and resource allocation; perform ongoing system capacity planning and performance analysis.
  • Manage ticket escalations, provide detailed technical feedback to stakeholders, and track hardware dispatch resolution workflows.
  • Configure and maintain the integrity of network components and implement operating system enhancements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with a current Polygraph.
  • Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution plus at least 10 years of Systems Administration experience on programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity, OR
  • 15 years of relevant Systems Administration experience without a degree (5 additional years substituting for the degree).
  • Linux Administration: Strong hands-on experience administering CentOS 7, Rocky Linux 9, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 9).
  • Hardware & Operations: Proven experience handling physical server/workstation installations, system refreshes, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Customer Processes: Demonstrated familiarity with Secure the Enterprise (STE) tasks and authorized data transfer workflows.

Desired Qualifications

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.
  • Infrastructure task automation experience using Ansible.
  • Experience with PXE network booting and provisioning virtual machines using Proxmox.
  • Working knowledge of Identity Management (IDM) systems and IDM integration with CentOS LDAP servers.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and configuring Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11 administration and advanced Linux networking concepts.
