This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Implementation Specialist / Business Analyst based in Canada.
As an Implementation Specialist / Business Analyst, you’ll help organizations transform complex business requirements into effective, practical software solutions. You’ll work directly with customers to understand their processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and configure systems to support their operational needs. The role combines business analysis, process mapping, software configuration, data migration, testing, and end-user training. You’ll play a key role in helping local governments improve efficiency, responsiveness, and service delivery to their communities. Working closely with project managers, technical teams, and customers, you’ll guide implementations from discovery through deployment and adoption. This is a customer-facing opportunity for an analytical and accountable professional who enjoys solving problems and translating business needs into technology. The position is fully remote in Canada, with occasional travel to client sites across Canada and the United States.

Accountabilities
- Analyze and document customer business requirements, processes, data needs, use cases, and pain points within defined project scopes.
- Facilitate discovery sessions with customers to understand their workflows and translate business needs into clear functional requirements.
- Map client processes and develop functional specifications aligned with established software capabilities and implementation methodologies.
- Conduct gap analyses to identify differences between customer requirements and standard system functionality, helping determine appropriate configuration or process solutions.
- Configure software workflows, business rules, settings, and other system components to support and streamline customer processes; this position focuses on configuration and business enablement rather than software development.
- Collaborate with data conversion specialists to support the successful migration and validation of customers’ legacy data.
- Configure, test, validate, and demonstrate solutions, incorporating client feedback throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Deliver remote and classroom-based training sessions to help end users understand and effectively use the implemented solution.
- Develop deep product expertise and use that knowledge to advise customers, solve implementation challenges, and identify potential enhancement opportunities.
- Provide a high standard of customer service throughout implementation projects, maintaining clear communication and managing expectations.
- Collaborate with project managers, data conversion specialists, quality assurance professionals, technical support analysts, and other implementation specialists to deliver successful projects.
- Manage assigned project priorities, maintain accurate internal tracking systems, and provide timely status updates to project leadership.
- Gather and validate client data, respond to feedback, and ensure configured solutions meet agreed business requirements before delivery.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software configuration, business process analysis, end-user training, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Experience identifying, analyzing, defining, and documenting business processes, data, systems, workflows, or related operational requirements.
- Strong business analysis, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Knowledge or experience with local government business processes, particularly licensing, permitting, land management, or related municipal operations.
- Post-secondary education in technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Strong understanding of software implementation principles, including requirements gathering, process mapping, configuration, testing, validation, and user adoption.
- Familiarity with database-driven applications, including both installed and web-based environments.
- Experience with MS SQL Reporting Services or an equivalent reporting technology is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the professionalism and confidence required to work directly with customers.
- Highly organized, focused, and accountable, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a changing and fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to build productive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 15% within Canada and the United States.
