This role combines technical leadership with people management, owning both the quality of engineering output and the growth, performance, and effectiveness of the engineers on the team — including Senior Application and HVAC Engineers.
You will set technical direction, ensure design integrity and code compliance, and align engineering execution with business objectives. Partnering closely with Sales, Business Development, Product, Operations, and Customers, you will translate strategic priorities into deliverable engineering work, remove obstacles for your team, and serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical challenges. As a leader, you will shape engineering standards, processes, and best practices while building a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management

- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development planning to grow technical capability and engagement across the team.
- Manage workload allocation, prioritization, and capacity planning to balance project demands with quality and timelines.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent; build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Resolve conflicts, support team wellbeing, and foster an inclusive, high-trust working environment.
Technical Leadership & Engineering Oversight
- Provide senior technical direction across HVAC system design, controls integration, redundancy strategy, and operational resilience.
- Review and approve system designs, submittals, calculations, and shop drawings to ensure technical accuracy, code compliance, and alignment with customer requirements.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex technical challenges, non-standard applications, and critical performance issues.
- Drive engineering standards, design guidelines, tools, and workflows that improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.
- Champion product evolution by feeding field and design insights back into the product development process.
Cross-Functional & Business Alignment
- Partner with Sales and Business Development to ensure engineering support translates customer requirements into technically sound, competitive solutions.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Supply Chain to align engineering execution with manufacturing, procurement, and delivery realities.
- Support proposal development, technical reviews, and key customer engagements where senior engineering leadership adds value.
- Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, and resource forecasting in support of company growth objectives.
Project & Process Management
- Oversee the engineering pipeline to ensure deliverables meet quality, schedule, and compliance requirements.
- Establish and refine engineering processes, documentation standards, and review gates.
- Track key metrics and report on team performance, project status, and technical risks to leadership.
- Support selective high-impact site surveys, startup, and commissioning activities where senior oversight is required.
