About the role

The QA analyst will be responsible for writing and executing manual regression scripts to ensure software quality within an Agile environment. They will also own the bug lifecycle, from identification and root cause analysis to communication with the development team.

We are looking for a QA analyst who will be responsible for writing and running tests to ensure that all scenarios have been covered to give confidence quality code is released into production for our .NET and Web applications in an Agile methodology. Reporting bugs and owning them through to completion.

The Software Services Department is a fast growing and multi-disciplined team with the responsibility for developing bespoke platforms and client facing web operations.

What You’ll Be DoingTesting Responsibilities

  • Responsible for writing, maintaining and running manual regression scripts.
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting business requirement documents, and defining the test scenarios that need to be written and run in order to determine the development meets those requirements.
  • Responsible for providing accurate test plans and testing estimates to enable a project plan to be designed.
  • Responsible for completing the test phase to a pre-defined quality and to plan.
  • Responsible for monitoring error queues in the test and productions environments and investigating root cause before communicating to the development team.

Methodologies & Process Improvements

  • Work within an Agile methodology (both Sprint and Kanban); attending and contributing to relevant meetings.
  • Involved in trialling new testing tools and approaches, reporting any findings and recommendations to peers.

Problem Solving & communication

  • Responsible for liaising with all levels of stakeholders to design and implement test scripts.
  • Responsible for clearly communicating defects to the development team.
  • Involved in replicating bugs raised by the wider business and investigating root cause before adding additional information and communicating to the development team.
  • Responsible for monitoring error queues in the test and productions environments and investigating root cause before communicating to the development team.

What You’ll BringEssential

  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level
  • Demonstrable experience working within an Agile Methodology (both Sprint and Kanban)
  • Good working knowledge of all relevant testing techniques & processes
  • Experience of testing web-based systems, including the user interface/web screen and web services
  • Experience of testing windows based applications
  • Working knowledge of Azure Dev Ops and Branching
  • Able to cope with working on multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact confidently with both technical and non-technical persons
  • Demonstrable experience of test planning and reporting
  • Commitment to customer centricity across all areas of role and interactions with internal and external customers.

Desirable

  • .Net C# Knowledge, ability to understand basic code e.g. IF statements
  • SQL Knowledge, ability to understand basic queries/code
  • Experience of automation testing i.e. Ranorex
  • Experience of stress and load testing
  • Experience of security/vulnerability testing i.e. AppCheck
  • Basic understanding of .Net error logs

The Package• £30,000 – £35,000 per annum

  • 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday
  • Hybrid working, 4 days from home after probation
