Primary Function

Leads artists and designers to develop and execute a wide range of design projects. Counsels internal clients on corporate identity and design standards and policies. Designs department publications. Requires extensive knowledge in typography, layout, color, and visual communication.

Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, responsible for the layout, design, and production activities to produce graphic-design artwork.
  • Uses graphics software (e.g., Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) to design and produce finished artwork.
  • Creates design ideas, advises on layout, typefaces, colors and styles for advertisements, publications, presentations using innovative approaches to design devices, type treatments and spatial solutions.
  • Capable of advanced implementation of the principles of typography, color and design. Coordinates in-house and outside vendor services.
  • Supervise the daily activities of lower level employees.
  • May work in an online environment using web-based graphics and design tools such as Flash, FrontPage and Dream Weaver.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Ability to work with IBM and Macintosh systems.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and applications required.
