JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experience data analyst to join our Examinations team. The ideal candidate will provide value to the team by bringing strong analytical, computer programming, and communication skills to support measurement and research staff with on-going operational and research related tasks.

Reporting to the Principal Research Scientist, Innovation & Measurement Research, Examinations, the Data Analyst I will support data extraction, cleaning, preparation and reporting for psychometric and research analyses. This role will also help maintain large-scale datasets, execute and debug existing analysis tools, support automation efforts, and contribute to clear documentation for data analytic functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Extract data from unique data sources and transform results for psychometric and research analyses.
• Conduct independent and replication analyses to validate findings using established software routines for all examinations.
• Maintain data tables, reconcile extant data and enforce business rules to resolve anomalous exam results.
• Communicate data findings and relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
• Conduct analyses and basic reports using techniques ranging from aggregation and summarization to more advanced data mining procedures under the supervision of psychometricians and research leads.
• Maintain operational and experimental code and documentation for data analytic functions.
• Execute and debug existing analysis tools according to specifications.
• Provide support for ongoing software and application development related to automation of operational and research and development work.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of two years of data analysis experience, which may include a comprehensive portfolio and/or certifications showing experience with SQL, R, and/or Python.
• Associate’s degree or in lieu of a degree two years of related experience required.
• Some experience with structured programming languages, such as SQL, R or Python.
• Experience with semi-structured data formats, such as JSON/XML, and structured data formats, such as SQL/Delta Tables.
• Ability to summarize complex technical information and communicate it to a variety of audiences.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience managing large and complex data sets.
• Excellent written and oral business communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience with data visualization, including developing and maintaining dashboards (e.g., PowerBI).
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, PowerQuery Editor and IDEs such as Visual Studio Code.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $72,000 - $83,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, training, certifications/licenses, qualifications and geographical location.
