The Master Data Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate material master data in SAP and associated systems, including Syndigo, across the product lifecycle. The role supports business operations across ANZ by strengthening data integrity, process compliance, reporting and continuous improvement. It partners with internal stakeholders, vendors, customers and global affiliates to deliver reliable product information and operational insights that enable informed decision-making.
What will you be doing?
- Maintain material master data in SAP and Syndigo across the product lifecycle, including creation, extension, changes, phase-in and phase-out.
- Monitor the MMR team approval process for new product launches, follow up approvals and guide users on compliant submissions and allocations.
- Process MMR forms accurately and on time for new material creation and routine master data maintenance.
- Manage vendor changes, purchasing prices, source lists, Transfer Price (TP2) requests and Purchasing Info Records (PIRs), ensuring alignment across SAP PR1, Apian and AX2012/intercompany systems.
- Coordinate product phase-out master data activities with Planning, Commercial, Logistics and Operations teams, ensuring relevant local fields and codes are updated accurately.
- Manage GS1 ANZ National Product Catalogue publication and maintenance for Australian and New Zealand customer accounts, including monthly refreshes and Data Quality reporting.
- Create scheduled and ad hoc reports and dashboards, providing analytical insights to operational and corporate stakeholders.
- Support customer B2B data integration projects and data enhancement initiatives that add value to Smith+Nephew and its customers.
- Manage the shared inbox and ticketing channels, resolving a high volume of internal and external master data enquiries promptly and professionally.
- Partner cross-functionally on new product introductions, pricing updates, intercompany data setup, process documentation, SOP development and system enhancements.
- Comply with corporate and local data governance, internal quality procedures and applicable ISO quality requirements.
What will you need to be successful?
Success in the role will requires a combination of technical knowledge, soft skills, and a deep understanding of both the business and service-providing sides of an organization.
Successful candidates would need the following:
- Bachelor degree or similar qualification in engineering, supply chain, logistics, business or a related field is preferred
- Practical experience in SAP master data management will be considered.
- At least 1 year of hands-on SAP master data management experience, including data governance, reporting, mass updates and data integration support.
- Experience with GS1 NPC, Syndigo/PIM tools, PIRs, intercompany trade, ISO quality systems or a regulated healthcare industry is desirable.
