Position Summary

The Chord Energy Finance Department is seeking a senior financial analyst to support the company’s corporate planning efforts. This is a unique opportunity for candidates with a finance or investment banking background to obtain oil and gas experience in the context of corporate finance with a premier E&P operator. The position will be focused on maintaining the company’s corporate model and working with management to set the strategic direction of the company. The position will report to the Director of Corporate Planning. This position is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain and improve corporate budgeting, planning and modeling processes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders from across the organization in order to help forecast cash flows, capital, and balance sheet metrics.
  • Support operations groups within the company by providing analysis on strategic initiatives.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to enable the company to most optimally allocate capital and make return of capital decisions.
  • Effectively build presentations and communicate financial information to senior level executives.
  • Think through and evaluate various transaction financing scenarios and assist with financing execution when needed.
  • A portion of the candidate’s time could also be allocated to other needs within the Finance Department such as investor relations and corporate finance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of experience in either the finance field or with an oil and gas operating company (upstream experience a plus) or 1 year of investment banking experience.
  • Excellent writing, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across many different disciplines.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive projects with a can-do attitude - doing what it takes to get the job done well.
  • Expert Excel, PowerPoint, and Word user (experience with technical tools such as Spotfire, Enersight, Enverus a plus).
  • Ability to build and maintain complex financial models and manage large amounts of data.
  • Ability to take ownership of new tasks and problems and solve them with precision and thoughtfulness.
  • Team player with intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, an innovative bent, and persistent attention to detail.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
