Citi is looking for a Senior Data Risk Senior Lead Analyst to play a pivotal role in protecting the firm's financial stability and reputation by overseeing data risk governance, controls, and policy across a global organization. Sitting within Citi's Operational Risk function, this role carries real strategic ownership — shaping how data risk is identified, managed, and communicated at the highest levels of the firm. You will work directly with senior leadership, regulators, and business partners to ensure data risk management is embedded across the enterprise and aligned to organizational objectives.
What you will do:
- Oversee the application of data risk policies, tools, and governance processes to create sustainable controls that reduce losses from inadequate processes and emerging risks.
- Assess and challenges the effectiveness of data risk mitigation strategies, governance structures, risk appetite frameworks, and control metrics to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
- Monitor data risk indicators across enterprise data programs— including data quality, architecture tooling, operating models, and end-user computing — escalating significant issues to executive management.
- Design and implement robust control measures to mitigate identified data risks across the organization.
- Guide business units and senior stakeholders in making informed decisions on data risk remediation, including prioritizing corrective actions and achieving risk reduction targets.
- Partner with senior management to prepare and present data risk incidents, trends, and key developments to boards, regulators, and oversight bodies.
- Shape and embed on a firm-wide culture of data risk accountability, ensuring teams understand their responsibilities in managing risk exposure.
- Support the development and adoption of the Data Governance Policy, associated procedures, and risk standards across business functions.
What we will need from you:
- 10+ years of experience in data risk, operational risk, or a closely related risk management discipline within a regulated industry such as banking, finance, insurance, or healthcare.
- Deep knowledge of data management principles including data linage, data quality, metadata, master and reference data, data architecture, and data modelling.
- Ability to identify data risks from complex datasets and translate findings into clear, actionable risk assessments and management reporting.
- Advanced knowledge of issue management frameworks including key performance indicators, key risk indicators, and corrective action plans, with experience managing risk appetite and remediation timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and credibly challenge senior stakeholders, including first-line business teams, internal audit, and external regulators.
- Skilled in applying analytical tools to risk monitoring and visualization, with hands-on experience using Tableau to communicate risk insights to non-technical audiences.
- Clear and confident communicator at all levels, with the ability to present complex risk information to boards, regulators, and executive leadership in a concise and compelling way.
- Professional certification in data management, risk management, or project management is advantageous.
- Familiarity with applying artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches to identify patterns, anomalies, or emerging risks within large and complex datasets.
- Experience leading or contributing to large-scale, cross-functional programs involving multiple business units and senior governance oversight.
