Technical Project Manager

Busek Co., Inc. | Natick, MA

Busek is a growing aerospace company specializing in advanced space propulsion and related technologies. Our work includes electric propulsion, chemical propulsion, Hall Effect thrusters, propellant management systems, and advanced materials. Busek has flown multiple propulsion systems in space and supports a range of commercial, civil and U.S. government space programs.

Position Summary

Busek is looking for a Technical Project Manager to help lead complex aerospace projects from initial planning through design, manufacturing, testing and delivery. This position will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Procurement and customers to keep projects moving, identify issues early and ensure technical and program requirements are met.

The ideal candidate is technically capable, highly organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to understand technical issues, coordinate across teams and drive projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage aerospace projects from planning through final delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, deliverables and action items.
  • Coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Procurement and other functional teams.
  • Work with engineering teams to understand technical requirements, design activities, testing and project risks.
  • Track project progress, identify schedule and resource issues, and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead regular project meetings and communicate status, risks, issues and next steps.
  • Work directly with customers and suppliers as needed to coordinate technical and program activities.
  • Support development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, budgets and technical documentation.
  • Monitor engineering and manufacturing deliverables to ensure they remain aligned with customer and program requirements.
  • Help identify technical, manufacturing, schedule and supply chain risks before they impact the project.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and ensure appropriate teams understand impacts to cost, schedule and delivery.
  • Support proposal and project planning activities, including estimates, schedules and resource requirements.
  • Assist with program reviews and customer presentations.
  • Maintain clear project documentation and ensure action items are followed through to completion.
  • Work closely with project and functional leaders to resolve issues and keep projects on schedule.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Busek's project management processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical field, project management or related discipline.
  • Experience managing technical projects in an engineering, manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, suppliers and customers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive issues to resolution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Project or similar project scheduling tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace, defense, space or advanced manufacturing experience.
  • Engineering or other technical degree.
  • Experience with propulsion, spacecraft systems, electronics, mechanical systems or other complex hardware.
  • Experience managing projects involving engineering development, manufacturing and testing.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, PLM or other engineering/manufacturing systems.
  • Experience working with U.S. government or defense customers.
  • PMP certification or formal project management training.

Work Environment

Busek is a hands-on engineering and manufacturing company where project managers work closely with the people actually designing, building and testing our hardware. This position will spend time working directly with technical teams and may require regular interaction with engineering labs, manufacturing areas and test facilities.
