Senior Solutions & Systems Architect Plano, TX |

About the Role We are seeking a senior technical leader to design Behind-the-Meter energy storage and Energy-as-a-Service solutions for Telecom, TowerCo, and Commercial & Industrial customers. The company integrates third-party batteries and inverters through its own EMS, SCADA, and optimization platform. The role spans product, systems engineering, sales engineering, delivery, and customer success. It suits someone who thrives in a startup and can move from whiteboard design to field troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer solution architecture: Design backup power and storage systems for telecom carriers, tower companies, data centers, critical infrastructure, and C&I sites. This covers sizing, technology selection, controls, communications, and utility interconnection.
  • OEM integration: Own integration of battery OEMs (CATL, Hithium, EVE, BYD, Fluence, LG) and PCS/inverter platforms (Sol-Ark, SMA, Sungrow, Delta, Kehua, TMEIC). Define communication mappings, data models, and controls sequences to make integrations repeatable.
  • EMS and controls: Be the system-level expert on peak shaving, demand charge reduction, generator optimization, demand response, solar-plus-storage, and revenue stacking, and turn market needs into product features.
  • Startup leadership: Join customer presentations, help close deals, support investor and partner discussions, build documentation and playbooks, and mentor future engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years in battery storage, DER controls, microgrids, telecom power, SCADA, industrial automation, or distributed/utility-scale energy
  • Multi-vendor integration experience and a strong grasp of communications and control systems
  • Customer-facing technical experience
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and commissioning events

Preferred

  • Telecom backup power or TowerCo experience, hybrid generator-storage systems
  • EMS development, revenue stacking, fleet management platforms
  • Utility interconnection, solar-plus-storage, FAT/SAT
  • Startup experience
  • Protocols: Modbus TCP/RTU, CANBus, MQTT, DNP3, SNMP, BACnet, REST APIs
  • Compliance: UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741 SB, IEEE 1547, NFPA 855, NEC 706

Success Milestones

  • 6 months: Technical lead on key opportunities, certify one new battery and one new PCS platform, and improve commissioning procedures
  • 12 months: Repeatable OEM integration framework, 25%+ shorter field integration timelines, and trusted advisor status with strategic customers
  • 24 months: Shape the next-generation EMS, set architecture standards, grow the solutions engineering team, and influence product roadmap
